Rafting Adventure Lao — Local services in Papasidero

Hello all with each other. Today we were rafting with 6 people. Our guides were Mephisto and his colleague (his name I unfortunately no longer know, but such a cool guy).

The tour was really great and breathtaking. We have made the 2 h tour.

After we arrived we got our wetsuits, water shoes, jackets, vests and helmets. Then we took the bus up to the boarding point. The bus makes a relatively old impression at first glance, but you survive the ride :D

Fun Fact: the two guides were so cool about it that they even helped us with the park ticket (we came with the caravan from Germany and parked a few meters away. Normal parking spaces are available on site though). We had of course no park ticket, the two guys regulated the whole thing but with the police.

Before boarding, there's a little briefing on the commands. You have to listen to the instructions of Mephisto during the tour. Otherwise you can just leave it.

The tour consisted of many fast and some quiet parts. Here and there are also breaks where you can do something cool, but what exactly you better find out yourself ;) You will have some adrenaline kicks and beautiful nature that you otherwise could not see.

Overall, I can only recommend the tour. But you have to be physically fit and listen...

We had an amazing experience with rafting adventure Lao! It was our first time rafting so in the beginning we got a detailed instruction. The view on the river was amazing, untouched nature in the middle of Italy with cliffs, waterfalls etc. We were literally the only ones on the river, so we didn't see any other tourist (we went mid September). The rafting was very exciting, I was a little bit scared at some point, but never scared to death (nobody got injured). Our boat leader Mefisto was very entertaining and told us a lot about the environment, gave strict instructions but also gave the posibilltiy to relax. Rafting adventure lao presenta importanti preoccupazioni di sicurezza. Un membro del nostro gruppo è stato intrappolato subacqueo, gravemente ferito e ha richiesto la chirurgia dopo un incidente durante il viaggio. Mentre il rafting è intrinsecamente pericoloso e si verificano incidenti, la guida è stata inesperta e non ha risposto alle richieste di aiuto prima che la persona intrappolata subacquea. C'era zero formazione di sicurezza. Invece ci hanno detto semplici istruzioni di pagaia come avanti e indietro e "Non ci sono preoccupazioni su questo fiume". Infine, il membro ferito è stato lasciato sul lato incustodito per 1,5 ore mentre le guide si concentrarono sul recupero della loro barca piuttosto che ottenere lui per assistenza medica. Solo dopo aver recuperato la barca lo hanno portato all'ospedale. Dopo aver interrogato queste pratiche, l'azienda ha solo dichiarato che la nostra scarsa capacità di paddling era la causa dell'incidente. Dovrebbe essere notato che due membri del loro staff sono stati all'ospedale per aiutare a tradurre.

Rafting adventure lao exhibits major safety concerns. A member of our group was trapped underwater, seriously injured and required surgery after an accident on the trip. While rafting is inherently dangerous and accidents happen, the guide was inexperienced and did not respond to cries for help prior to the person being trapped underwater. There was zero safety training. Instead we were told to simple paddle instructions like forward and backward and “There are no worries on this river”. Finally, the injured member was left on the side unattended for 1.5 hrs while the guides focused on retrieving their boat rather than getting him to medical assistance. Only after retrieving the boat did they drive him to the hospital. Upon questioning these practices, the company only said that our poor paddling ability was the cause of the accident.
