We stayed at La Landuccia for 5 days in May 2012. We we welcomed by Franca, who despite not speaking English (and us not speaking Italian) made us feel very welcome and comfortable.|| ||The quality and finish of our apartment was excellent. It was also very tidy, warm at night and comfortably cool in the evening. It was well appointed and we could have cooked our own food but we preferred to eat the wonderful breakfasts and four course dinners(!) that Franca prepared. She is a very skilled cook and made us some great tasting and locally sourced Tuscan cuisine.||||The area around the accommodation is very peaceful. We went on short walks and even discovered a beautiful waterfall and steam. Rocky and Bella the farm dogs were very friendly and would often accompany us on our walks. Claudio and Jonatan were busy building a pool (which I believe will be ready by July 2012) which will make La Landuccia even better!||||You do need a car if you intend to visit this part of Tuscany and La Landuccia especially as it is quite remote (down a 2km track once you turn off the winding road). For us the remoteness was part of the appeal. It was about 25 mins drive to Pomerance which has a good general market on Thursday mornings. We also did a day trip to Volterra. San Gimignano and several other hill towns are within a drive away.||||Summary.||Accommodation = Clean, well appointed, comfortable||Food = The best we had anywhere in Italy||Location = Off the beaten track! Peaceful and beautiful||Hosts = Friendly and very helpful. You are made to feel very welcome||||I will definitely return to La Landuccia. We had...
Read moreIt takes a while to get here, up a steep hill with hairpin bends and it is 20-30 mins from the nearest town, but it is worthwhile. ||It is so beautiful, and the people who run it absolutely charming and friendly. We arrived speaking no Italian bar the very basics, and they spoke no English (I get the impression many german, French and Italians come here) which was actually refreshing, and we got by with smiles, google translate and a bit of arm waving! ||We had supper 3 times cooked by Franca and it was wonderful and also very good value. €18 each (were weren't charged for our 3 yr old) and we seemed to get 5 plates of the most delicious food including pudding and also a bottle of homegrown wine (very nice). On arrival we had a basket of food, which also had homemade ragu and delicious lemon curd). ||They have 2 gorgeous friendly dogs Vanilla and Rocky who we all loved. ||Our rooms were great, lovely and cool and the farmhouse stunning. The pool is heavenly and because the property is on quite high ground a very welcome breeze meant the temperature was nice even though it was August. ||Franca and her husband made us very welcome when we walked past their farm and gave my son a ride on his tractor and let him feed the lambs. On our last night they cooked for all the families and we all sat together which was so much fun and nice to meet new people from different parts of Europe. ||I thoroughly recommend this place for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful place...
Read moreMy husband, my baby, and I spent a week here at the beginning of March. It was an absolutely amazing experience. The unit we stayed in on the property was meticulously clean when we arrived (truly, not a spot of dust) and it had some amenities that were clearly updated (i.e., toilet and dishwasher) while integrating them with the original home. The landscape was breathtaking. One of the best parts of the stay was the food. We had the option of doing full or half-board, and we did the half board (breakfast and dinners made for us). The food was incredible! The antipasto, the pasta, the mains, the desserts, the breakfast. Everything was delicious. We felt so at home there. The location is definitely away from the touristy places (Volterra, San Gimignano, etc.) so you will 100% need a car and likely need to have a travel plan for the day, but it is the perfect place to reset and truly relax. We were lucky to get to take home some of the preserves and oil they make at their farm. Jodi, Jonathan, Veronica, Francesca, Franca, and Marghertia were so lovely (and the pets too). We hope to come...
