This review is long overdue but completely deserved. We went to Agriturismo Scannano in early June and cannot recommend it enough. We travelled as a couple from California, don't speak Italian, stayed three or four nights, and ate breakfast and dinner here every night. We enjoy hotels and travel quite a bit, but this place is a whole different experience that is wonderful. You just can't get it from hotels. This is a working farm where a real family lives which makes it all the more charming. It was great to simply wander around the grounds (which are beautiful), see the farm animals, eat home cooked food (it was all delicious), chit chat with the family, play with their dogs, etc. This is a great place to relax, but also a great base for side trips - from here, we went to a thermal spa, Siena (was a short drive away), and had plans to go to other places which we didn't carry out because it was so nice to just be here. The spa room here is lovely and is a bonus that is uncommon to find at other agriturismos. I got a relaxing massage from Barbara's mother, Marilena, which was probably the best massage I've ever gotten. Prices are very reasonable. I also really liked that we were able to do laundry here. Overall, we had not just a good stay here, but an unforgettable Tuscany experience here, thanks to a warm and...
Read moreLets start with the good things: Barbara and her Family are really nice, I regret that I don't speak italian to chat more with them. Breakfast is simple but homemade and was okay, coffee could be better. Dinner was fantastic! BUT: The room was really small and be sure before you get there to read the fine print as everything, even for the high Price for Italian conditions, costs extra. Use of the pool area, use of the wellness area, cleaning of the room….I could go on. Funny was that heating and air condition, two of the few things that you don't pay extra were not active at that time. At least we got a second blanket, because it was quite chilly at that time. Prices in the room papers differ from what we paid on booking. In the papers it says the romm would have been 40 € per person, on Booking we paid almost double. We asked Barbara about it and she said that was because ist a family room for four persons. But if you check on their internet page, prices for children differ so that is not true. (e.g. if you come with two adults and lets say two children under 3 years you would still end up with 80 € as children under 3 are free) When we left the place Barbara was not there to talk about it again, so we left with some kind of bitter feeling. We felt deceived and thats why we won’t come back or recommend this...
Read moreWe spent one night here, and it was wonderful. The property is secluded, expansive, gorgeous, and so quiet. We enjoyed laying in the garden by the pool, walking through the vineyard, checking out the livestock, and taking in all of the beautiful views of Tuscany. Barbara, the caretaker, speaks sufficient English for anglophone travelers and was very accommodating to our last minute reservation. ||We were served a full-course meal in the evening, complete with their house-made wine, which is the best I have had in Italy or elsewhere. Appetizer was a spread of bruschetta (bread delicious). First course was Carbonara, second course was a pork filet with a bean topping. I trust based on taste and due to the nearby pig sty that both the bacon in the pasta and the pork in the main course were fresh. For dessert, we had lemon tart. All of the food was superb.||The room was spacious with good air conditioning and a comfortable bed. Views from the room patio could not be better.||Breakfast was eggs, pastry, breads, meats and cheeses, with coffee and juice. All yummy. ||Price for one night was 80€, dinner was 25€ per head.||I would love to come back here and will recommend to all families, couples, solo travelers, and...
