Great setting with amazing panoramic views for many miles. The old structure is open and you can explore a bit. The chapel was closed but a hole in the door lets you have a glimpse of the inside. There is a dirt road from down below San Lucido and also access from the road above through a gate but please secure well for the grazing cows benefit. The monastery has a very interesting story. Stupendo monastero diruto sulla Paola-Cosenza. Ben noto ai locali, il monastero era un cenobio conosciuto come di Santa Maria di Monte Persano, eretto intorno al 1000 dai monaci basiliani. Questi assegnarono il nome di San Lucido a un avamposto brutio sul Tirreno che oggi corrisponde al paese di San. Lucido, in onore del monaco benedettino, Lucido d'Aquara, che soggiornò nel monastero per molto tempo.

Nonostante la sua età risulta abbastanza integro, probabilmente grazie alla qualità delle murature la quale malta in calce è ormai ritornata pietra calcarea inscalfibile.
