Great free archeological site close to Castel di Tusa! There are still archeological excavations ongoing. It offers a small but beautiful museum and the possibility to explore the agora, the old main road and various burial sites at the necropolis! Even though the amphitheater is still under 15ft of earth you can already glimpse its former glory. If you are lucky one of the employees of the site will show you around and offer his deep knowledge of the site.

Imperdibile!

Andate andate andate

Me and my friend speak no Italian and ended up here and had a great private tour from the guide, Antonio. He used google translate to give us a private tour and tell us about the site so we could understand - super interesting site with rich history from Greek to Norman times. I wish we could’ve communicated to the hosts how much we appreciated their hospitality. Antonio gave us great lunch recommendations in town too - will definitely come back once we have the chance to learn some Italian.

One note- when getting off at the Tues exit KEEP GOING STRAIGHT WHEN YOU SEE THE BLACK HORSE. google maps will tell you to turn right and it is the bumpiest most overgrown road you’ll ever drive - there was a loose bull on it...

This is a true hidden gem / gemello 💎 for anybody interested in ancient history. Its importance can be compared to Pompeii, as it was a very large roman city by the time. We were welcomed and expertly guided by Sr Carmelo, who is most knowledgeable and passionate about this historic landmark. Highly...
