My family very much recommends a visit to Bianca’s olive farm. Of all our experiences as tourists in Italy, this is the one that most had us feeling like we were cherished guests in an Italian family’s home.
My family loves food and I wanted to take my kids to visit a farm in Tuscany. Between the various cheese and olive farms that I googled, Mascagni stood out for the number of amazing reviews it had. As a result I prioritized this as the top farm for our family to visit. Bianca was very flexible in communications, including giving us the option to do a tasting outside because our family was still getting used to traveling post-Covid.
The drive to her farm through the Tuscan countryside was already spectacular. We passed many road bikers who were enjoying the beautiful, less traveled roads. The last part of our journey was on a dirt road where we made way for a tractor. Our small, standard rental car was able to handle the road fine.
Bianca, her mother, and her dog Rita were all waiting for us when we pulled up. As Bianca guided us into her olive orchard it was clear that she has a genuine love for olive oil. Learning about the process of tending for, harvesting, and producing olive oil was very educational. After her talk, we had a much deeper appreciation for the nuances of olive oil, the global olive oil industry, and better understood the health benefits of buying earlier season olive oil and how to read olive oil labels.
Once the tour was complete, the tasting with Bianca was very interesting. Even more special than tasting the oil that Bianca produced though was tasting the oil in the home cooked dishes made by her mom and using the bread baked by her father to mop up all the excess oil. My children still talk about the dishes of eggplant, tomatoes, cheese, and more that we had there. It was super special for us to be eating “homemade” food in Tuscany. We didn’t leave a drop of olive oil in the finished dishes. Also Bianca’s mother and father were both a joy to talk to. They were extremely hospitable and it was fun seeing her father’s eyes light up when talking about his daughter.
For a genuine experience with locals who love what they do, a visit to Mascagni Organic Farm is...
Read moreBianca’s olive oil tasting experience was an absolute highlight of our time in Tuscany. From the moment we arrived at her family’s beautiful organic farm, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality. Bianca is not only incredibly knowledgeable about extra virgin olive oil production—she’s passionate, articulate, and deeply connected to the land and traditions of her region.
She walked us through the process of growing, harvesting, and pressing olives with such clarity that we left feeling empowered to actually understand what makes a high-quality olive oil. We tasted her estate's award-winning EVOO and learned how to distinguish authentic products from the mass-market stuff back home.
And then… the food! The home-cooked Tuscan lunch prepared by Bianca’s family was just extraordinary—simple, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The vegetables, bread, and even the dessert were made with ingredients from their land. It was like being welcomed into a home, not just a tour.
We also enjoyed meeting fellow travelers from around the world and left with full hearts, full bellies, and shipped 6 bottles back home which we just received!!
If you're looking for something authentic, educational, and delicious—this is it. Thank you Bianca and family for such a magical experience. Highly...
Read moreWe LOVED this experience! It’s a wonderful woman-owned, woman-run business. Seven of us from my family did Bianca’s olive oil tasting, including kids ages 10 & 7. I messaged Bianca through WhatsApp using the phone number on her website and asked if we could come in a couple hours, she said yes. We didn’t know what to expect but Bianca was fantastic and her English is good. She went to college for agriculture so of course she knows a lot about caring for the trees and processing olives but she’s also passionate about helping people learn about health. She taught us about the different types of trees and the oil processing process then she brought us to a nice tasting room and taught us how to discern the quality of oil, then Bianca and her Mom fed us an incredible spread of local foods. We thought maybe we’d get some bread but she gave us two dishes each of: peppers in oil, eggplant, tomatoes, sheep cheese, honey & walnuts, bread and crackers, with olive oil of course. The kids loved it because, unlike wine tasting, they were included and because of the dog and two cats.
WARNING - as of 7/27/22 Google maps shows the wrong location. It’s actually 2km down a gravel farm road from the estate home that’s currently shown as...
