The food here was delicious I had a little bit of all the dishes my friends ordered. I had some of the curry fish which was absolutely spectac ular and the parrot fish fried was a little bit over dry . I prefer having more of the flesh available to eat then crunch however it tasted well, the french fries was good with the shrimp that I had a piece of from my friend's plate and everything was pretty okay. I can say that I was able to sample everything 100%. When it comes to the drinks they had a strawberry or mango daiquiri which was not very pleasing as it was just a lot of sugar with very limited amount of alcohol splash. Pricing for it was definitely overcharged. Now I must give kudos to the cook when it come to the plantain. the plantain oh my goodness was so on point it wasn't over fried it was not overcooked it was just perfect. As far as the atmosphere was concerned nothing to rave about a simple shack on the water maybe to some Tourists from the Northern side of the equator ,may think it's a big deal but it wasn't for me. It was a shack made out of woods had a whole bunch of license plates and people carving their names and businesses into the wood, NOT aesthetically pleasing it was not it was just simple. We came in over from the dry land to the restaurant by a wooden craft boat. As of today's date when this was surrendered the cost is 20 US dollars per person. I think it's very steep of a price to pay but if you want to experience it ,if you're not going to swim it you got to go by boat. So actually youhave no other choice if you're touring. I'm met the owner of the restaurant a dreadloc man who seemed to be very happy and very proud of his establishment which in every right he has and should be. So big up yourself mister, I forgotten your name and wish you much success as life goes on. ThIs something to do while you're within the NEGRIL AREA. If you wanted to eat on the water this is definitely one spot...

TLDR: tourist trap ripoff, but it is in the ocean.

Getting there: a series of vendors charge you around $25/person for a boat ride there and back from shore. I recommend learning their names and the name of their boat. Total cost family of four: $100

Being there: they open about an hour or two later than posted hours. It takes at least 30 minutes to make your food, which is unnecessarily expensive, that said some plates are hits and others misses. All plates are at least $20 but not worth it. Total cost family of four: $200

Drinks: bottled drinks are about the same price as land, $5/beer or so. Mixed drinks are EXPENSIVE, up to $15-20+. Total cost family of four: $250

Swimming: you can only jump off of one side, which happens to share space with the boat dock. The bottom is rocky gravel and surrounded by sea urchins. It's pretty hot with a good breeze, but very little shade. You basically jump a foot into the water and float because you can't really swim. Total cost family of four: $250

Getting back: you tell your boat pilot/Captain when to return, and they're generally half an hour after that. Then you ride back and stop at the nearest place for a second plate of food for those who had misses or those who were still hungry after a small $20+ plate. Total cost family of four: $350

Overall impressions: go to a beach and eat local food and drink local beer, maybe pay to get pulled on a inflatable. Not...

This place was a very unique experience that I am definitely doing again. This review is basically from 2017 and will be going this year for a more recent experience.

The atmosphere was very chill. They had good music, good vibes and great food.

I got steamed fish, which ran me about JMD$2500 each. Drink prices come at a premium they charge like $1000 for mixed drinks and about $500 for beers. I can imagine how much they go for in 2023.

The water is shallow enough around the bar that non-swimmers can safely get in.

Basically, repeating myself: Super unique experience.

You have to take a boat there which can get expensive but that’s half the fun. Also, boat rides and prices vary from access point. We took a voat from Parotee Point Black River, which cost like 10 US at the time. Have your boat driver call the restaurant first with your order as it takes a while to cook as there's modern amenities or facilities unless you don't mind waiting.

The food was great. Drink selection is limited, but you don’t go here for fancy cocktails. Just beers and those are limited in choice, too.

Tons of locals are hanging and helping out. Had an enjoyable time getting to know a few of them. Some might try to hustle you, especially if you're not a local cause they can tell.

BRING CASH!!!!! MORE THAN YOU THINK...

So this place is really cool, you catch a boat to go there and then they cook your food in an old rim and who knows what else but the food was excellent and plated like a 5 star restaurant (don't ask me how they don't put there) anyhow your gonna need at least an hour and a half here or longer because the food took an hour but we just laid out back and napped. Prices are reasonable for what you get since the experience is worth a bunch on its own.
