Umakata Soba-ya — Local services in Aso

Located along the road towards Mt. Aso observatory, a soba place somewhat minding its business quietly without any fanfare.

We reached there around noon 12:00issh and were guided towards our table after decent 30 mins wait in the small garden outside. They ask you to wait in your car and give you waiting buzzer.

Interior was bit different, May be there was some musical dining before playing bands. For sure it doesn’t look like a typical soba place. It has its different but unique vibe.

Overall huge volume if you order from set menu especially for the price points. But every item is tasty and served on small food stand 😊

Delicious and bountiful bowl of soba served here. I had the hot version with duck meat. Warning: the noodles are 100% soba, so they will break. The longer you leave your noodles, the more likely they are to break. Not a bad thing—just don’t be surprised. The soup was citrus-y and deep. The duck was very tender and tasty. There are lots of choices—both hot and cold—but not every item has a hot/cold counterpart. Be careful when parking—places are tight, and there’s not much room for maneuvering. If the restaurant is crowded, you’ll need to put your name in upstairs (that’s where the restaurant is)....

驚愕のコスパ！ ほんとこの言葉がピッタリのお店です。 かなり待ちましたが、とても満足しました(^o^)

実は当初、近くの違う店に行く予定でしたが、生憎臨時休業で。 たまたま近くで見つけたのがこのお店でした。 普段57号線を走ってる際、見かけてはいたものの、店舗自体が竹林？で見えにくい事もあり、スルーしていました。

11時半前にお店に着いた時には、既に駐車場は満車。 ええーっ？！ここ、こんな人気店だったの？ってのが最初の印象。

で、入り口まで行ってみると、なんと行列が。。。 お蕎麦屋さんなので回転も早いだろうと、待つ事にしました。

がっ。。

全然、先客が出て来ない。。。 なんでやねん？！

訳が分からず、待つこと1時間弱。。。(泣) もう後に引けませんでした(笑)

で、やっとの事で入店すると、レトロ感溢れる良い感じの店内。 こりゃなかなか♪ 自分達は一番奥の大きなテーブルに案内してもらい居心地もとてもGOOD。

で、肝心のメニューを頼みます。 ネットで、とにかくセットメニューが絶賛されていましたので、これを頼むべく、お蕎麦は普通の盛りそばにしました。 後から考えると、これでちょうど良かった。。

待つこと15分あまり。。。 また待つのか。。。(泣)

まずは、セットメニューが到着。

ここで驚愕？！ ええええーっ？！ 何これーっ？！

横幅50センチはあろうかというお盆に、隙間なく小料理が乗っています。。 てか、上にも。。。(笑)(笑)

これで350円？！ ええええーっ？！

注文した全員が驚愕(笑)

多分、これだけでお腹いっぱいになりますよ。。。 これ、普通に懐石で2,500円はするやろ？みたいな料理ですもん。。。 それにまだお蕎麦出てない。。。

まぁ、席に座ってお料理が出てくるまで、15分近くはかかりましたが、こんなん出されたらオールオッケーです(^o^)
