正応元(1288)年に妙福寺として創立され、開山は中老僧の日秀、開基は日徳です。永禄年間(1558-1569)に隆盛を極め、元禄9(1696)年に山門・鐘楼を建立、同16(1703)年大地震により堂宇が壊滅しましたが、天保年間(1830-1843)、代官原田作九衛門(法号妙源院)の帰依により再興され、妙源寺と改称し、茂原法華七福神・寿老人を奉安しています。山門と裏門の両側...

正応元(1288)年に妙福寺として創立され、開山は中老僧の日秀、開基は日徳です。永禄年間(1558-1569)に隆盛を極め、元禄9(1696)年に山門・鐘楼を建立、同16(1703)年大地震により堂宇が壊滅しましたが、天保年間(1830-1843)、代官原田作九衛門(法号妙源院)の帰依により再興され、妙源寺と改称し、茂原法華七福神・寿老人を奉安しています。山門と裏門の両側に駐車スペースあります。
