We are a family of 5 who stayed there in March 2024 and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Considering the price that you pay, you can't give them less than 5 stars! We are westerners who sadly don't speak Japanese but we managed with Google Translate and the kindness and welcoming warmth that most of the staff showed us. A special mention to Sam, one of the kitchen staff, who treated us with kindness, enthusiasm and cold tea. We had Genghis Khan, Katsudon and Salt Ramen for dinner and let me tell you after three weeks going around Japan that their food has nothing to envy to famous restaurants in the big cities. On the contrary! It should be the other way around. You can taste the authenticity and honesty of Date and its people.
We needed to arrange the futons ourselves but it was a fun and easy thing to do and the breakfast (which sadly we couldn't sample because we were in a hurry) was included! It is honestly a bargain.
As for the onsen, our kids loved to use the outside one with the view of the nice mantained garden. Very peaceful and relaxing. Definitely the best way to start your day!
Thank you again for creating nice memories for our family. We will always...
Read moreToday was the second night of my Hokkaido adventure and I couldn't get to my campsite in time so I found this place on Google maps and it was pretty awesome :) I decided not to get the breakfast but dinner was great I had some beef and eggs over rice it really hit the spot plus the whole place is just beautiful very traditional Japanese inn , the lady at the counter even helped me retrieve a coin from underneath the vending machine which was super nice of her lol , the young man at the cafeteria helped me order even though he couldn't speak English so he was awesome a very fun person! The bath was simple and traditional and they gave me a robe and soap and shampoo and toothpaste and a toothbrush! The room was a smoking room I didn't really mind tho and it was simple tatami mat with futon , tv , fridge , little table in the middle, absolutely wonderful would go again if I'm ever in the area :) thank you so much for...
Read moreI just had my worst onsen experience in Hokkaido for the first time. In the women’s onsen, there was a strong, unpleasant smell—something like a toilet or urine. Not only that, but the water was way too hot, some floating dirts and hairs. there were no shower heads, and no wall clock. To make things worse, the door to the outdoor bath was broken and made a loud noise when closing. Serving without shampoo and body soup is normal. But the mention hygiene issues are...
