Gamejima Park — Local services in Fukui

Recreational Park of Kamejima Island : Kameshima Island is located in the northern part of Echizen Coast of Fukui Prefecture. The town in which the island is located is Matsukage-cho. The island has its legend that a very old turtle which had thick moss grown on its back carried Kannon Statue belonged to Itosaki Temple located in neighboring town of Itosaki-cho arrived here and rested. Later on, the island turned itself into a shape of turtle. Therefore, the island was named Kameshima meaning " Island of Turtle ". The island is approximately 100 meters off the coast of this town and its size is 23 meters in height with 8,000 square meters. There is a long walking path built around the coast near the island and it is a very scenic point as well as being a place for recreational activities. Some parts of the walking path are built with natural rocks around the coast which gives you a sense of being united with its natural surroundings. Up on the island is a sacred place enshrining a female deity of Benzaiten.

ここだけではなく、海水浴場など自分達の出したゴミは必ず持ち帰りましょう。 年に数回、各町内の人達で海岸清掃をしています。
