The island have numerous of movie-like beaches with clear water and white sand. The trip to Iki Island from Fukuoka is 2 hours with ferry or 1 hour with jetfoil. If you like beaches and need relaxation, i recommend 3-5 days.
By car or scooter it's easy to get around the island. There are busses too, but they don't drive frequently. The locals don't speak english very well, but with apps it's easy to communicate as a foreigner. I think me and my girlfriend were the only non-japanese people on the island at the time, but we were treatet very good!

Read moreReally amazing stay on Ikki island, even if at first the raiders didn't like me much I managed to gain their trust and we all became friends. It was nice going back to the island where I spent most of the time with my father, such nice memories. Horse almost drowned on the way to Ikki but survived and helped the locals.
