The hotel is located in Yagisawa, Nishi-Izu area which is a quite and beautiful part of the Izu peninsula. The best part of the location is that you can view Mountain Fuji by the sea side (with sunset) so I highly recommend this venue for sight-viewing. You can take the Tokai bus to and from Shuzenji train station which connects Izu and Hakone area. You can also take dream-ferry from Toi Port which is only 2 bus stop away. Also, the area is very nice for just walking around.||As for the Onsen, which is a big part of the Onsen Ryokan experience, the hotel offers three Onsen bath area -- two "outlook" bath with a round bath tub and one "open-air" bath where you have a large pool and beautiful surroundings and you can see the sea and Mountain Fuji from the bath if you try. All Onsen baths are private and you need to "sign up" for the one you want to use. During our stay, we had no trouble getting our spot -- and we love the fact that they are private (In fact you won't be staying in the Onsen bath for too long). ||The room/lounge -- super authentic Japanese style. We got a room with open-air bath and it's very nice. ||Food -- which is another big part of the Ryokan experience -- is as good as all others are saying. We stayed for 6 days straight and had different menu everyday. (How did they come up with so many different dishes? LOL) Also, it is quite rare that people may want to stay at an Onsen Ryokan for so many days -- but we did, and we enjoyed it very much. We actually falled in love with the small town Yagisawa. So peaceful and people are so nice!||Service -- as expected from traditional Japanese hotels -- very nice, house keeping is also done very well everyday. We can't thank all the staff enough for their hard work!||OK, this is not Aman or Hoshino Resorts and everything is very plain here. It has no breathtaking views nor exquisite Japanese gardens nor Michelin-star dishes that you get so used to in Japan -- but it is actually that "plainness" that touched our heart. Everything is just so nice but not too much. It is the kind of "small happinesses" in our life that makes us most gracious. You don't see the contrived refinement in the "establishment" places, just natural beauty that flows like streams in the valley.||Highly recommend if you want the authentic Japanese experience rather than the international 5* experience slightly...
Read moreWe had a lovely 2-day winter stay here. A great, quiet place to relax. The rooms were nice, futon was comfortable, and it was very quiet at night for sleeping. The evening meal and breakfast was excellent. I loved the ambience of the place at night. There were 3 hot springs that you could use. Just check that nobody is using it, take the correct small wooden block, and sign your room number on the paper. When you return, return the wooden block and sign your number again. There was an open air hot spring and two view baths on the second floor - spectacular view of Fuji! The hotel is close to the Yagisawa bus stop but the place is a bit remote. We enjoy walking, however, and took the opportunity to take one of the nature trails in the area near the coast - breathtaking views of the coastline and ocean on the walk. All in all, a great stay, friendly staff, and...
Read moreThis hotel is located in the countryside, and if you are looking for a quiet retreat, definitely consider here. We booked a room with an attached outdoor bath, which is great. However, we didn't realised that it only comes with outdoor shower and no indoor shower. We caught a cold from showering outdoor as the wind was quite chilly at night. (We went in Oct) The outdoor bath runs on tap so it isn't that hot compared to flowing Onsen water. Service was exceptional. You get to choose your Yukata and the lady owner even chose the Obi colour to match our Yukata for us. Dinner was fantastic with the Kinmedai Galore. We will definitely revisit again for their Kaiseki dinner but probably won't be booking the room with attached bath...
