Snow trekking through the mountains, and powder, of ZAO was an unforgettable experience. I never knew trudging through 2 meters of fresh powder during an active blizzard up, down, and across a mountain could be so fun!

Cap and Junji from Yamagata Experience are amazing guides (a former Japanese orienteering champion and firefighter!) and are focused on making the trek safe and fun. What made the experience extra special was being able to take the lead through the snow - with Cap's guidance of course. The exertion and excitement I felt forging the path through an untouched landscape is something I won't forget.
