Discover Izu — Local services in Kawadu

Jimmy, the owner-operator of Discover Izu is FANTASTIC! We were a group of 7 staying in Ito for a couple of days and requested a private all-day tour. I had been working with Jimmy by email going back and forth until we came up with a plan that I thought would suit our group. But like anything, plans change. The day of our tour turned out to be a very rainy one, so Jimmy easily made adjustments. He took strawberry picking and it turned out to be the highlight of the day. All you can pick and eat for 2000 yen. We were able to sample two varieties of berries. We also visited the Izu Geopark Museum. Unfortunately because of the rain we were not able to visit the planned Wasabi Farm. Instead we visited the Wasabi Information Center. Jimmy is a fabulous guide. We loved that he spoke English, making it a very easy day for us. He's personable, knowledgeable, and very good driver. Because we had him for the day, he accommodated our request for a couple of extra stops, one for a quick lunch and one to stop at a department store so we could buy a few things. I would highly recommend Discover Izu. Take one of his preset tours, or better yet, plan a private tour to fit...

My parents and I enjoyed the Waterfalls and Wasabi Tour with Jimmy immensely. It was raining that morning and our tour was scheduled for the afternoon. Jimmy responded quickly to my email queries regarding what his plans were considering the weather. He proposed an excellent amendment to our itinerary that still covered the waterfall and wasabi experiences. In addition, he anticipated our desire to return to our ryokan earlier for dinner and asked if we would like to start and finish half an hour earlier. During the tour, he drove us around in his comfortable car, sharing his knowledge of the region and was an excellent translator for us with the locals, facilitating wonderful interactions and experiences. The places he brought us to were stunning, the whole area is beautiful and I now have so many photos and great memories of our time in the Izu Peninsula that would not have been possible without Jimmy....

I had a fantastic tour with Jimmy in the charming village of Ike in the beautiful Izu Peninsula. Jimmy was responsive and knowledgeable, and the tour was well-organized with detailed instructions. Jimmy's personable character made the tour even more enjoyable. We visited several locations, including the Ryukeiin temple, where we saw locals taking a lunch break from a communal clean-up. Jimmy was kind enough to introduce us to some of the locals. The temple's history and Jimmy's captivating retelling of the 'Akaushi' folk tale made the temple visit truly memorable. Along the way, we also had the opportunity to buy fresh local produce from unmanned stands. We visited a locally treasured Shinto shrine, where Jimmy expertly guided us through the rituals.
