北海道最南端の灯台で、１８８８年(明治２１年)９月に初点灯しており、１９５１年(昭和２６年)にコンクリート造りに改築とある☺️。

塔の高さは(地上から)、１７mとあり、海抜からは約３７mであり、函館海上保安部の管轄とある☺️。

国道２２８号線を走りしてると、見えてくるので分かりやすいが、灯台敷地に向けての、入り口は立入禁止で、車での乗り...

3月、海から見たので、車で行ってみた。 柵がしてあり灯台までは行けないけど……、 車を止めるスペースは狭いけど……。 本州まで19.2km、北海道最南端の岬に立つこの灯台は、函館へ航行する船舶の重要なポイントになっているそうです。 近くにある白神岬の駐車場は広々として、津軽半島も見えて気持ち良い。天気がよければ海を見ながらコーヒーでも飲みたくなる。

1987年8月に訪れました。国内航路標識番号が１番の灯台です。1888（明治21）年に点灯され、1970年頃に改築されたようです。北海道では御馴染みの赤白横線塗りですが、当時は灯籠が赤く塗られていました。灯台の手前には霧信号所のダイアフラムホーンも設置されていました。
