Mangan Hot Spring — Local services in Minano

5/5!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️【HIDDEN GEM】💎 The BEST onsen I have ever visited since almost staying for 3 years in Japan.

Hereby, let me tell you 2 reasons why it is the BEST onsen for most Serene experience I have ever been:

1. Drinking Natural Water from the pristine river, just Next to the Ofuro! 😳 The water is called 長命水 (longevity water). After getting soaked into the hot ofuro, it felt so amazing to drink natural water flowing out from it source. ⛲️

2. Enjoying the View of Waterfall and Clean Riverbanks just behind the Ofuro! 🏔🧼 This is so crazy! After our body got too hot due to the ofuro, we can just get up, stand nearby a ravine just behind the ofuro and just get relaxed while enjoying the waterfall view! (naked of course, but that is okay ‘cz the place is hidden)

Oh yeah, there is a sleeping and relaxing place where you can take a rest for whole day on the 2nd floor. 💤

The peppermint scents from the 2nd floor restrooms are also relaxing (I know this is too specific, but I liked it a lot).

#Tips regarding transportation (BECAUSE IT IS VERY TRICKY WHEN YOU GO BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION) and if you don’t know Japanese, but I’ll tell you how to get into this hidden gem (I went there by public transportation): -The closest station is Minano Station (皆野駅). -Bus charter is NOT available on WEEKDAYS. -HOWEVER, there are city buses that you can take from Minano Station. -The city buses are only available every in 2 hours. I slept on the bench of the station to wait. However, let me tell you, it is gonna be a long trip (but worth it!!!) -Take a look at the schedule for 皆野駅バス 日野行き (look up on Google, YET it is in Japanese only I guess…) -DO NOT use Google Map to look for the city bus schedule, because maybe the place is too remote so that the bus schedule and route did NOT show up, instead look at the 皆野駅バス　日野行き official website. → download the PDF schedule.

The place is still relatively hidden from foreign tourists, because as I mentioned English guide is not available a lot.

All in all, if you can travel by car it will be 1 hour faster from Tokyo. However, if you do solo trip and want to go for the ceapo, just get into the train from Ikebukuro to Chichibu (one line only, the color of the line is orange).

First time visit here. Expected to have a good discount after 5 pm but during the weekend there’s no discount but had to pay 1,000 yen per adult. We had a dinner here and ordered some soba noodles and udon 🍜 noodle! It was very good and we enjoyed it. After that we got to go to the hot springs, the main attractions. There were one big hot spring and a cold one inside and one big hot spring on the outside. The scenery was good but have to be ready for mosquitoes 🦟 after certain hours. I enjoyed it but probably was annoyed by mosquitoes more than enjoying natural hot spring… Inner one was good but quite felt disgusted in the cold onsen. There was like a bunch of slimy algae or seaweed or whatever nasty stuffs were in the water… so I had to get out of there right away. They should keep it nice and clean tho since they charge us a lot for visit there. Hope they change that. Wising...

Nice onsen in a nice location. The view from the 'rotenburo' (outside pool) was gorgeous and the spring water was very nice (clear and moisturizing). The entrance to the shower area smelled a bit moldy, but overall it was clean. I did think that over 1000 per person was a bit expensive compared to other onsen, but overall not bad. Extremely cheap body soap and shampoo though which kind of ruined the experience. I would go there again I guess, but I would bring my own shampoo and conditioner. For 1000 yen per person, please don't be so cheap about your shampoo and soap. Please stock...
