Okuiya — Local services in Miyoshi

Great help from the two lovely sisters that run this minshuku/ryokan. Little English for directions. Know travel Japanese before you stay.||Good value--Price was 7500 yen per per person including a filling Japanese breakfast and dinner which is worth about 3500-4000 yen on it’s own.||Rushing stream outside the room. Very clean.||No internet.||Onsen indoors and 1980ish. Very clean||Buses run 2 times a day. Know the schedule or rent a car if you plan to go to the East side bridges.||Samurai house is a 5 km walk up a steep 1 lane road. We hitched a ride 1/2 way up.||Samurai house docent serves tea and tells stories. magical experience. If you are a Journalist bring a recorder.||Fun experience. Lots of hiking in this lovely,...

12月の上旬に訪問しました。 祖谷という土地柄を考えると、豪華な宿泊施設を体験するというわけではないのですが、そういう意味では昔ながらの民宿に泊まった感じです。

部屋の広さは全く問題ないですが、民宿ですので有名なビジネスホテルを想定してはいけないかと思います。 また施設のWiFiが通っているわけではないですので、自前でなんとかするしかありません。ただし、ドコモやauは電波が届いています。 (ソフトバンクはわかりません)

夕食の料理も、最初に泊まった日はよくある日本食が出てきましたが、2日目は祖谷の食文化を反映した食べ物が出てきました。ひらら焼きが提供され、アメゴも入っている珍しいものを頂きました。

そもそもこの近くで夜まで開いている飲食店はありませんので、この集落が拠点になるのかと思います。
