JR陸羽東線の鳴子温泉⇔新庄の間で唯一、行き違いが出来る駅で国鉄当時は「羽前向町」という名前でした 昔は仙台から秋田を結ぶ急行「千秋」号などが走っていて、 駅構内も広めで、貨物の積み込みなども行われていたんじゃないかと思う、駅前は昭和の賑わいがあったであろう空気が漂っている。 駅舎は町により公民館と共用で整備され、ホームに向かう通路はスロープに改良され、改札口において乗車券類も時間によっては扱う 待合室にはエアコン・多機能トイレも整備されている。 駅の反対側に出て国道沿いにはコンビニエンスストアもある

ホーム１つ、①・②番線です。 [臨時快速・リゾートみのり] 停車駅です。

満沢温泉最寄り駅です。 (かなり離れていますが…)

公民館併設の駅❗一時無人化されましたが 現在は簡易委託で行き違い可能駅です。 構内もわりと広く側線があり、モーターカーやラッセル車が停まっている事があります。 また🌠駅舎内では、お茶🍵やコーヒー☕が飲めます。やっぱり駅に人がいるのは、ホッとし...
