Tsubame Onsen Kawara no Yu — Local services in Myoko

Lovely mixed natural onsen in the mountains. The water was amazing and the views even more so. But let me be perfectly clear, this is UP A MOUNTAIN, even though the path is paved and clearly laid out it's at least at a 50° pitch if not more all the way up. Not a long walk from the parking lot but wow 😲. Have at least some degree of fitness before you attempt this. The views are amazing from the waterfall lookout and the onsen is worth the climb. But for the foreigners coming 1. Walk with cash for lunch and 2. Walk with your onsen towel and a towel to dry off. Otherwise well worth the price of...

燕温泉の駐車場から15分位歩いた、標高１１００ｍ地点の渓流沿いにある、上杉謙信の隠し湯との言い伝えも残る『河原の湯』。 下界の早朝外気温は21℃、燕温泉街は16℃ほどと涼しく虫も殆どいないので、入浴するには適した季節でした。(2020.9.16)

秘湯と言っても過言ではない、野趣あふれる混浴の野天風呂には、小屋の横に協力金の箱が置かれています。中に入ると男女の脱衣場も用意されており、管理組合の方々の行き届いた手入れによって綺麗に保たれています。🙇

9年前程に新設された岩造りの浴槽へ豊富に注がれる湯は、微硫黄渋味もして多数の白い湯花も舞い基本的には微白濁で、光の加減により青みがかった湯に見え大変綺麗で幻想的です。 遊離硫化水素によって、焦げた感のある硫化水素臭が漂い、肌に匂いが染み込み(ガス)吸収してくる醍醐味を味わえます。 体感温度的に39℃弱くらいのぬる湯に滑らかな浴感により、長湯することができますね。 硫黄泉ではないので、少し侮っていましたが、転地効果により五感が刺激され素晴らしい温泉を堪能できました。

源泉名は、燕温泉。 泉質は、カルシウム・マグネシウム-炭酸水素・硫酸塩泉。 （低張性中性温泉） 源泉温度 39.6℃。(気温18.2℃) 湧出量 110L/分 (自然ゆう出) PH 6.5。
