I WENT BACK!
Mt. Katsu is the first hike I had in Okinawa Japan way back 2018 and it was December and too windy and cold. This time, my second time around a Summer hike and am telling you the heat in Okinawa is a no joke because it's always a plus with humidity BUT the hike was still amazing and fun. I was able to see different kind of butterflies, big snails and stick insect and lots more.
The hike going to the top lasted for 45minutes but the first time we did it for 30mins so I can say it is about 30-45mins.
The parking lot is big and the pin didn't give the right one too, so keep going up if it says it is here, you supposed to see a big area of parking lot above before you can say that you are in the starting point.
The place do not have vending machine so make sure you have your tumbler with liquid there and the toilet is kind of creepy but you'll be safe.
Always remember when hiking or trekking do not get anything from the nature and always keep your trash with...
Read moreGreat trail up to the mountain which leads up to a beautiful view. The trail is okay with dogs as well but it is a bit rocky. Distance is about 1.11 miles so the hike is short. Along the way, there is a cave that leads downward but no one is allowed to go in. At the top of the mountain there is a pole which is significant to the mountain, basically a landmark. 15 meters away from the pole there is a edge where you can take pictures from. Highly recommend to wear hiking shoes, definitely not sandals or anything other like that, the rocks are sharp and you should take caution. I recommend this place for a good exercise since you get a nice trail and a gorgeous view of the ocean and...
Read moreMt. Katsu trail presents some unique challenges that hikers should be aware of. Limestone Terrain: The trail primarily consists of sharp limestone roch, which is uneven and require careful slow footing, especially after rain. The rugged terrain adds to the hike's challenge, demanding attention to each step. Pink signs on trees mark a path, I recommend that once reached the summit, hikers return via the path they came up. In my opinion following the pink signs past the summit leads to more difficult and dangerous terrain. Wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots and stay on the trail. Mountain Katsuudake's weather can...
