A beautiful waterfall located within the grounds of a local Shinto shrine. Reaching the base of the falls means walking up some stairs to the shrine first (and parking a little ways away since there’s no parking immediately near the entrance), then going down a large number of steep old stone steps. There’s an observation platform, a suspension bridge, and lots of other temple buildings nearby. There’s also a cafe at the temple that serves shaved ice, coffee, etc. Since there’s a lot of foliage in summer, the view was best from the bottom of the stairs.

The waterfall is a bit secluded. I took the path through the shrine and had to walk up and down over 200 steps or more. The observation area was unkept and overgrown but offered an excellent view of the waterfall. So if you have the energy and stamina then I highly recommended the shrine route. There is one more route south of the river but I didn't take it. Parking for the waterfall is across the road and free with some toilets.

Nice scenic waterfall nearby a shrine, although it's seen from an old platform instead of getting close to it. Recommend not to drive in when the road gets tricky (and rocky). Park right outside before you enter the forest and walking in is recommended (my car (kei type) almost got stuck when we tried to do a 3...
