観光型高速クルーザーSEA SPICAに乗って契島に接近しました。契島は大崎上島町に属する有人島の一つで、瀬戸内の軍艦島として紹介されていました。 島のほぼ全域が東邦亜鉛株式会社の子会社の敷地となるため上陸は出来ませんでしたが、自然豊かな島々のなかに忽然と島全体が工場となっている島が現れ、興味深い光景でした。 本家の軍艦島は廃墟ですが、こちらは現役の工場ですので、夜になると明かりが灯って、もっと軍艦らしくみえるかもしれませんね。 大崎上島の白水港から出ている町営フェリーに乗れば、生野島を経由して契島の桟橋までは行けるそうです。 訪問時期：2023年4月

２０２４年１２月、竹原港から大崎上島に向かうフェリーから観れました！ 島の大部分が東邦契島製錬の工場で、日本の４０％以上の鉛が製錬されているそうです！ 長崎県の端島に次ぐ「もう一つの軍艦島」として有名ですが、確かに軍艦の様に見えます！ 一般人は立ち入り禁止です！

関係者以外立ち入り禁止の島。 なので隣の生野島から、この契島（ちぎりしま）を見ました🍀 ものすごい迫力で、感動しました👀💡 （映画えんとつ町のプペルの）リアルえんとつ町、という感じでした😌✨

瀬戸内の軍艦島と呼ばれる契島（ちきりしま）。 名前の由来は元々島が二つに千切れたような形だったからとか。 島全体が東方亜鉛株式会社の敷地となっており、実は鉛のトップシェアを誇る。

一般の人は内部に入ることを禁止されている上にインターネットにも中の情報はほとんど無いため、余計にマニア心をくすぐられるとか。 昔はこの島に住宅地や売店などもあり、かの軍艦島の様に一つのコミュニティとして独立していたらしい。

となりの生野島との関連も強く、ボタ山があったり草の浦から船で通っている人がたくさんいたそうです。
