Hotoke-ga-ura Rock Formations — Local services in Sai

This rock shore is located in Shimokita Peninsula, the northernmost tip of Honshu. It is a mysterious scene with strange shaped rocks standing on the shore of the clear blue ocean. This rock shore is small scale, but here is the sea's Cappadocia. I arrived at the parking lot early in the morning and walked a promenade toward the coast for a while. When I get off the wooden staircase on a steep cliff, it is Hotokegaura rock shore. There is nobody in the shore, only the quiet wave and the distant bird's voice can be heard. I came to the end of the earth! It is felt that it is a thing. You can also go by sightseeing boat from Sai harbor, in that case you will arrive at the harbor of Hotokegaura. Although it is far away and inconvenient, it is the place that you want to visit...

We drove from Misawa to Hotokegaura just this past weekend. The drive is absolutely beautiful, but very windy...so take precautions if you or someone traveling with you gets carsick easily! The water is absolutely a gorgeous emerald green color, and so clear that we could see lots of sea urchins and some star fish! Lots of tide pools with sea life to include hermit crabs. *Please note that the hike down and back up (from the parking lot down to the actual sea cliffs) is not for everyone. It can been a bit steep and treacherous for those who aren't stable on their feet. Be prepared to carry small children or have them...
