Neat little museum! There’s no entrance fee and they have pamphlets for English speakers. The staff member at the desk didn’t speak much English, but was very nice and we just talked through Google Translate.

Most of the displays have English translations on them too, but even the ones that didn’t weren’t hard to understand. I just used Google Lens to translate.

The history of the area was really cool to learn about and is presented in a way that makes it easy to understand. I saw online that today Fukui cave is really small, but the museum explains how that wasn’t always the case and the history of human occupation in this...

I can't understand anyone that would give this less than five stars. They have incredibly old artifacts, great displays with decent English translations, and really fun activities such as fire making, learning how to weave, actually holding 18,000 year old arrow heads, etc. This is a small museum that won't take much time, but punches well above it's weight. Outstanding!!!!!! I highly recommend actually visiting the cave before you visit the museum, it is...

Great exhibition showing the Paleolithic era of Japanese cave dwellers. Videos on hunting tool manufacturing of the time was fascinating. Video on geological/geographical formation and change also fascinating. Small but great museum. Oh, and it's...
