Only open weekends, but interesting & only ¥200 entry fee the second floor has beautiful art pieces to view, interesting traditional design and architecture. Taisho glass. Higashihara, Houzo Art displayed upstairs. Some other interesting artifacts including woodcarvings and decoration. Curved roof & house designed to be in harmony with neighbors. Nice traditional garden, see old toilets (not in use) & other features to image how they lived. Nice postcards & handmade souvenirs. Free parking. Nestled in nice, traditional neighborhood. Charming place! A 100 years old house curated in every detail. Open to the visitors on Saturday and Sunday. The house museum hosts a collection of classic paintings, byobu, stamps and ceramics....

素人目には「旧家のお屋敷ですね」という感想しか浮かばないのですが、ボランティアガイドさんの説明により、広間の天井が屋久杉、床の間の柱も屋久杉、棚や床も桜や檜の一枚板と、さり気なく贅を尽くした造りであることが分かります。 欄間も、一見地味に見えるけど一枚板。 障子の下の板部分、継いでいない=一枚板なのでお高いという新しい知見が！！ 離れも風情があります。窓ガラスの造りが独特で、そして、これはきっと現存しない模様ガラス。 二階の洋間も眺めが良くて素敵。審神者がニヤリとする品が展示されていました。 今年度末（2023年3月）で公開は終了されるとのこと。土日祝だけ開館とは言え、地元有志の方による運営は大変ですものね……。 ガイドしてくださったご当主と市議さん、...
