Takanabedaishi — Local services in Takanabe

Fun place to see with a lot of unique huge stone statues that were made about 50-80 years ago by Yasukichi Iwaoka, who entered the Buddhist priesthood at Koyasan. Great view of all Takanabe town and the pacific ocean. If you drive along the National Route 10, it’s worth visiting here since it takes only about 5 min. from the route 10. Takanabe Daishi was suggested to us as a highlight in the area so we went to visit it. This group of buddhist statues on the top of the hill were unlike all statues we've seen anywhere else (the story behind them pretty unique too), and the view of the city and the sea from there were...

高鍋の名所。持田古墳群が広がる丘の上にあります。平成21年に宮崎観光遺産に認定されました。高鍋町のカントリーサインにも採用され、まちを上げて推しているのが分かります。独特のフォルム、表情を持つ石像群は見応えがあります。

持田古墳群の霊を慰めるために故岩岡保吉翁が開山。八十八ヶ所札仏と岩岡氏 自身が刻んだ石像が700体以上あり、なかには6メートルを超える巨大なものも あります。町北部の丘陵地に位置し、日向灘も一望できる絶景地。見学は自由。 高鍋大師花守山計画 写真家・故秋山庄太郎をして「福島に桃源郷あり」と言わしめた「花見山」。 季節の花々がいっせいに咲き誇る、桃源郷と言うにふさわしい場所。 花木の生産農家の方が、自らの山林を無料で開放し、町民や観光客に親しまれている。 この福島花見山をモチーフとし、高鍋町では、宮崎県観光遺産にもなっている「高鍋大師」の魅力を高めようと、石像群の周辺や敷地内に花や木を植栽、四季折々に楽しめる「花守山」へと整備する取り組みが行われている。 一帯を見渡せる丘に、大きさも様々なユニークな石像が並ぶ高鍋大師。花を愛でながら散策できる憩いの場所として、多くの人々が訪れ...
