I recently visited HIDA in Takayama and was blown away by the beautiful and top quality furniture they produce. With over 100 years of experience, they have a great collection of both classic Japanese furniture and modern styles. 飛鳥時代からの木工伝統のある岐阜・高山市に本社のある曲げ木細工で世界に誇る技術力を持つ木工家具メーカー。

創業97年の飛騨産業ですが、1991年ピーク時には66億円あった売上が2001年に29億円と半減したデフレ期は借入金30億円もあった。在庫の山に加え廉売商品ニトリやイケアに押され売上を落とした。

しかし、良いことは即実践の経営方針で現社長が立て直したおかげで、今や技術力に裏打ちされた会社となった。

また、問屋卸を抜いた流通改革を断行し小売店へ直に取引を開始し、受注販売を徹底して在庫を無くした。

家具業界の慣習で、節のある木材出て来た家具は不良品というものを大転換し、森の言葉シリーズと銘打って節を敢えて表に出していった。これが年間7億円の大ヒットし成功した。
