白浜から熊野本宮大社さんへいく途中で休憩とお土産を仕入れるために立ち寄りました。駐車場の脇にある階段から下へ降りると河原があったのですが、そこを流れる川の水がもの凄く綺麗で驚きました。たぶん今までに見た川の中で一番綺麗な水の流れでした。ただ、こちらの駐車場は川遊びする人用の駐車場ではないので、残念ながら川はちらっとだけ見て戻り、お土産物を見ることにしました。お薦めは恐らく自家製と思われる「梅干し」です。凝ってなくて本当に梅と塩だけで作ったやつです。しかもお値段が安い。回りに梅干し好きが多いので...

中世戦乱の世、後醍醐天皇の第三王子とされる大塔宮護良親王が都から落ちのびる際に立ち寄ったとされる伝説から大塔と呼ばれる様になったと伝わる、田辺市編入前の西牟婁郡大塔村時代に出来た開設歴史の古い道の駅。

当時の村独自運営では財政問題があったのか? 道の駅としては駐車場や設備、建物内を含めて小振りであり 全国でも極小の部類の道の駅だと思う。

どちらかと言えば、トイレ休憩場所のイメージですが、好位置に移転建て替えオープンが出来れば、観光地としての宣伝も出来て違った側面が...

特産品販売所は地元の産品にこだわり、野菜、漬物、みそ、はちみつ、お茶やお土産菓子などを販売している。百間山渓谷など、特に紅葉シーズンには多くの観光客でにぎわう。 地元生産者がつくる日本蜜蜂のハチミツがイチオシ！
