We had a truly unbelievable experience at Seirnan No Sato and would highly recommend it to anyone that has the chance to visit Shikoku. The “mothers” who manage the hotel and cook the meals and jokingly refer to their hospitality as “clumsy and slightly intrusive” are the most accommodating and warm hosts. After two 10 day trips to Japan, I can honestly say the best meals we had in the country were all cooked by the Siernan No Sato mothers during our three night stay. The dinners each night were flavorful, always unique and surprising, the freshest ingredients, and so plentiful. The rooms are modern and comfortable with beautiful views of the river and mountains from a back deck.
We expected the Shikoku countryside to be beautiful, but the photos online don’t do it justice, the whole area is beyond imagination. We didn’t get to experience the tea making class but I could not stop drinking the shiso green tea and brought home bags of it. It’s only ~1 hour drive from Kochi City and rental cars were easy to manage. We also used it as a jumping off point to the Niyodo River for packrafting and canyoning with Niyodo River Adventures as well as a hiking trip up the highest peak in Western Japan called Mt. Ishizuchi. Overall, it was one of the most peaceful experiences I have ever had and can’t wait to return some day....
Read moreSeiran no sato was one of the nicest accommodations we have had the opportunity to stay at. The places is gorgeous and the river is stunning. The whole place is very relaxing and peaceful. It is a very traditional ryokan with incredibly delicious food. Most importantly the hospitality was world class. I didn't catch her name, but lady who runs the ryokan was so kind and helpful throughout our stay. It was our son's birthday and she did so much to make it a special day. They made a beautiful cake with candles, bought celebration sparklers and gave our kids nice outfits to wear. Thank you again for such a...
Read moreSuch a beautiful hotel and run by the most lovely women. We had the best meals in Shikoku at this hotel. The dinner was incredible. We could not believe each dish was better than the last. The room was so comfortable and the river behind the hotel was so beautiful. When I bought some tea from the front desk, they very kindly packed it into a little paper bag they had folded themselves with a handle! We felt totally at home. Magical stay! We can't wait to come back in the...
