Yokko Gorge. — Local services in Yakushima

One of our favourite places in Yakushima. We went there twice. Few people around. It was a really nice place to soak in the sun (July), sounds of the mountain river, the cool breeze. Just breathing in the peace and tranquility.

Be careful though, the rocks in the river are slippery. And while it was a short trek to get from the parking lot to the river, we were battling insects for most of the way. Suggest parking at the closest...

Absolutely stunning place with not too many visitors. I wish we spent more time there just soaking in the sheer beauty and tranquility there. I took a dip in those emerald green waters, cool and healing. The ferns and trees, while not Shiratani Unsui Gorge, I am grateful that it wasn't either.
