One of the top lodges in Samburu. We had a good stay, enjoying the friendly and attentive staff. The buffet was always having a variety of choices. Everything was freshly made and there was something for everyone. Rooms were clean and problems attended to promptly. Other facilities and areas are kept clean and well. Some areas show that the lodge has been around for a while. A good place to stay and good value for the money. Only point of complaint would be the very noisy generator that is really disturbing in the serene environment. It also seems a waste of resources to use a Diesel generator as the only source for electricity and to use the same to heat water. Solar systems for both electricity and warm water would be a mayor step to responsible management of resources!

The accommodation is probably best described as ‘faded glory’ - a bit old and tired. But considering where you are and the price it’s ok. I wasn’t expecting luxury. The game drives were pretty good though. We saw a ton of elephants & giraffes, a few ostrich, jackals and even a honey badger! On our last drive we came across a mother leopard and her cub which was brilliant. Loads of cool birds and lizards too. We were there just after rainy season in January, so the vegetation was lush. You’d get a different experience a month later. Overall a good experience.

Samburu Sopa Lodge served as our accommodations in Samburu. We stayed here for two nights. It is perfectly located inside the Samburu National Reserve. This meant that we didn't have to drive too far for our game drives as we were already right there.||The service here is exceptional. Everyone - from the receptionists to the restaurant wait staff to the person manning the souvenir shop - were all professional, courteous, friendly, warm, and genuine. You could tell that they really wanted all their guests to have a wonderful time, whether at the hotel or while on safari. They really made our memorably stay in Samburu even better.||As we had a late lunch upon our arrival, we saw several impalas at a watering hole just outside the restaurant. The next day, we again got to see more animals here, specifically baboons and warthogs. On our first night here, we had a special dinner set up in the bush, just outside the restaurant.||I love the food at our hotel. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all buffet and they offer mostly international fare, with a few local items. We also really loved Kenyan coffee!||I love the rooms in Samburu Sopa Lodge. There's a lot of space inside and it has a balcony. The rooms are detached and dispersed over a relatively large area. This meant that we had to walk about 5 minutes or so from the lobby to our rooms. While this can be viewed as a disadvantage, my family and I appreciated this because it allowed us to walk and get a bit of exercise after each of our heavy buffet meals. The receptionist also told us that it is safe to walk from the reception/restaurant to our rooms but if we were ever worried, especially at night, we can ask for an escort. (We never did.)||Since the hotel is in the middle of a national reserve, it seems that they are trying to reduce their impact to the environment as much as possible. Upon arrival, we were told that power in the rooms is only available during certain parts of the day (if I recall correctly, it is available for couple of hours in the morning, during lunch time, and for a couple of hours in the evening). That said, there is electricity at the reception 24/7 so whenever we needed to charge our phones or other devices while power was out in our room, we would just ask reception to charge them for us.||Samburu Sopa Lodge has an awesome location, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the food is great, and the staff is amazing. There is also a swimming pool but we never got to use it. If you plan to go to Samburu for a safari experience and you are looking for accommodations, Samburu Sopa Lodge is a...

We had the most amazing time at Sopa Samburu, we even extended our 4 night stay to 5 nights! We have a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old, they loved every minute. We had a good deal, and an extra 10% off booking through booking.com. |Nothing was too much for the staff, they worked long hours and were always smiling, on standby for our every need. The food was fantastic - huge variety in the buffet for each meal - the fruit was perfect, the 'protein' options always delicious. The dining area water hole was always busy with guinea fowl, dikdiks, warthogs, jackals, francolin, zebra, impala. Hornbills and birds were everywhere especially at the dining area. Sopa Lodge also has a 'resident' bull elephant called Lenakai who visited a few times while we were there, he was wonderful! We didn't even need to leave the lodge! The swimming pool was well kept and wonderfully cold - so refreshing in the Samburu heat. The beds were comfortable, lots of pillows, bathroom very clean, good shower water pressure and immediate hot water, 4 bottles of drinking water given to our room each day. Wifi is only around the main reception area and not in the rooms, but the speed was good. The electricity runs off a generator which is turned off between 11.30am and 5.30pm but when I needed anything charged or wanted to get some work done using the internet I was welcomed to sit with the Sopa staff in their main office!|We requested picnic breakfasts two mornings - we each got a lovely box with fruit, yoghurt, sausages, bacon, juice, jams toast, and wooden cultery! All meals and picnic boxes are cater-able to your diet requirements. |The security night watchmen were so helpful, carrying our kids to our room when we arrived late after a long game drive. On our last night the Kitchen Staff prepared a small cake and the dining staff came out singing with it as a thank you to us for extending our stay! |It has been a wonderful week surrounded by Samburu magic - thank you Sopa Samburu!...
