This area was undisturbed some years ago and illegal settlement of people in search for land has created deforestation and other human damages to the environment. The Cherengany mountains as normally called Hills is the main source of one of the well known rivers of Kenya, River Nzoiah which ends in Lake Victoria, the largest fresh water lake in AfricaH.
