My first time going to mageta Island was 15th april 2009..... I used the local boats from usenge beach to wakawaka beach.... Destination was to report to mageta island health centre. On arrival i got the following officers Owasgo Osore Atandi Plus some CHV .... It was a nice welcome ..... I made friends like Andrew,opocho,adi,adili,Dave dadi Security officers Ndegwa Rono Kibet. I enjoyed working on the island i learnt alot,the experience i gained have never gained it anywhere. I recall what opocho and Andrew told me "doc if there's something you will not see it here believe you will never see it any where,all the residents of the island came so hapa ni kama ulaya"

   Read moreIf you want to experience the authentic Luo village life in an Island come to this place. I had so much fun here from enjoying my first bath in the lake, to interacting with the locals. You will get to learn a lot about how people came to start living on this Island and also their main economic activity which is mainly fishing. One thing I also liked about this Island is most people here are farmers unlike most of other Lake Victoria Islands in Kenya I have visited like Takawiri, Mfangano, Remba, Rusinga. The land in this Island is arable and good for growing crops to support the families on the Island.
