Unfortunately completely disappointed with brunch from 18 October, 2020. Went together with family members who have been there before and had all the good reviews. This time we all went away disappointed: Service was terrible, we had to wait almost an hour for waiter to come and serve us, and we even had to go and ask for it, when waitress approached she even did not apologise for making us wait; Starter was fiddling, just the same amount for 4 people as it was served for 2, and not all of the starter foods were enough for 4. Besides - tortilla chips for starter? Omelettes that we ordered most likely were mixed up cause we didn't seem to get what we ordered and even waitress seemed puzzled if everything is correct; Food from the chef was biggest disappointment, choice was very limited compared to other brunches at Čarltons, besides quite a few items were no more available when we went to get it. Later some food was added, but, for example, salmon was undercooked and served raw in the middle, that's not what you expect when you get roasted salmon; It was not clear why some tables had table cloth on and some not. Without table cloth it felt like we are in the bistro. Not to mention that we got paper napkins, not cloth ones.

For the price we paid, we definitely did not get a return. And it's a pity you cannot rely on service and consistency - following previous recommendations we expected this to be great brunch experience but instead it was very disappointing. Not going to suggest this to anyone else. And unfortunately not sure I'll return to this restaurant again after...

For reference: I had a four-day vacation in Riga and during my stay I visited approximately 10 different restaurants. Out of those, Carlstons was the only one having both excellent dishes as well as customer service. From my previous visits to different establishments in Riga I thought this must be the way it is when it comes to customer service. But oh boy did Carlstons turn the boat around.

The menu is, for sure, a smaller one which I personally appreciate. For main course, I chose fish which was incredible and for desert an apple strudel with ice cream and berries. Even latte was available. All the dishes were on point.

Although food was amazing I was most taken by the level of customer service Carlstons has. As soon as I entered the restaurant, staff was eager to welcome me and direct me to a table. When seated I was asked whether I would like to have something to drink while choosing the dishes. The way staff handled everything from taking orders to preparing the table and asking for feedback throughout the whole visit you could tell they were professionals. In addition, staff communicated well in English which made the visit even more pleasant. I couldn't have picked a better place to have dinner on my last...

Still want to come here again and that already means that this place is worth the visit. We went here for the special September menu, which included a starter, main dish and a dessert, all made with seasonal products. Before I start to talk about the food - we had a great waitress I personally loved a lot, I don't remember anymeone taking so much care of me. Really. The place is very spacious, they have a lovely terrace which is definitely an amazing place for the warm summer evening. Food. Food was quite good, even if I did not understand the salad till the end and I was slightly confused, the main dish with slowly cooked beef cheeks and zucchini pancake was amazing, the meat was melting in my mouth. The dessert was probably a small disappointment but I got the sugar needed for my digestion system to work and the thing itself was not overly heavy, so that was a plus.
