The Grand Sofar Hotel is a former hotel in Sofar, Lebanon. The hotel was built in 1892 by the Sursock family. The Arab League held their first meeting there. The hotel was seriously damaged in the Lebanese civil war. In 2018 the owner, Roderick Sursock Cochrane, reopened it as a temporary art gallery.

The hotel had it's golden years quite sometime, and you can feel it. The architecture is really imposing and as you walk in the rooms you can sort of imagine how it must have been like. It's a shame though that we only got to visit the entrance and side rooms.

Once upon a time. At the Grand Hotel Sawfar time has stood still, when it shut down in 1975. It sadly still echoes with forgotten parties, gambling’s, long-ended weddings, like a silent movie, a warning that happy moments cannot last for ever😞

amazing place... dreamy, very beautiful and old, holding old ways and way of living and sawfar's old days,places,architecture and building, also amazing place for making exhibition or activities, i recommend for visiting and advice every one to visit and enjoy the beauty inside..i...
