The view from the top on the islands and on the crater is amazing. It is worth the hike! There is 600 m difference in elevation from the shore to the top. The path is easy to find, you don’t need any guide. However it is quite steep and slippery due to the many little volcanic rocks. Hopefully it is mostly in the woods so you don’t have direct sun in the morning but it is till very hot and there is no wind. It’s best to leave early morning.    Read moreGreat views of the Banda Islands if you don't have any clouds. We found the climb and descent quite challenging due to its steepness and loose stones which make up the path. Good idea to take / find a walking stick.
The path is clear and easy to follow. It took us 2 and a half hours to climb and 2 hours to descend. Would recommend starting early to beat the heat and take as much water as you can (at least 1.5L per person). There are also lots of mosquitos during the start of the climb so take repellent.
