So many changes to this area, we used to walk through my nenek's neighbour paddy fields and cross through forests to reach the foot of this hill with my nenek from her humble abode. This place is very special and dear to our heart, we would pass through each station and recite the short prayers, and climb uphill all the way to the top, with 14 crosses in total as part of station of the cross. Being kids, we would be reciting it so quickly, trying to race to the top. There used to be a pondok at the hill, and we would often point out to where my parents would be working, as the view expands all the way to KK. Of course, back then it was only visited mostly by the local villagers, so it was quite isolated, so it felt like our own paradise to just rest and enjoy the breeze.
Nowadays, there is a more accessible road leading to the hill, making reaching the top a breeze. It has gained more popularity as a hiking course, but of course many trees were cut off in the process to make it more accessible, and the surroundings sometimes seems littered. Now, there is a chapel at the top of our beloved hill, with a statue of Christ overlooking the people, and truly, the beauty of the view is as amazing as my first time seeing it. Please keep the place clean and tidy always, and bring all the litter...

However, the incline can get quite steep and slippery in some areas, so it's best to wear proper hiking shoes. I wouldn't recommend coming during or right after rain, as the trail becomes muddy and slick.
Some parts of the path are overgrown with tall grass, so be prepared for a bit of a bushwalk. The area is partly maintained — the little chapel on the hill is slightly run down but still gives off a peaceful and serene vibe.
The view from the top is amazing, offering a sweeping overlook of Putatan, Lok Kawi, and the surrounding countryside. There’s also a statue of Jesus Christ here, which feels quite reminiscent of the Christ the Redeemer statue, especially with it standing prominently on a hill.
I believe there are three toilets on site, though I didn’t get a chance to check them out. Overall, it’s a nice little hike with a rewarding...
Read moreA new hiking spot that has very good potential to become very popular with both locals and tourists. Location is good, with a grand view over the Meruntum Lagoon and the skyline of the city.
There are two peaks - the first one at about 170 metres a.s.l. is where a chapel and a statue of Christ is erected. The second - peaking at about 190 metres a.s.l. is a wide hilltop marked with a flag and is above a 'resort'.
Trail is a gravel road that is relatively easy for the casual hiker and clearly marked. Most climb to the second hill in 30 minutes. For Christians, it is a meaningful location to reflect on the Lord.
Accessibility to the hill may be limited for those without their...
