Pulau Rebak Besar — Local services in Kedah

Honestly very so-so. I know the concept of a "private island" may sound appealing, but in reality, I can guarantee that the public beaches of Langkawi are able to provide just as good quality of a beach (if not better) than the one on this private island.

In terms of the resort, it is in DIRE need of renovations, as it is clearly very worn-out and outdated, when compared to the other luxurious resorts in Langkawi.

Service also needs to be revamped on this island. For example, we apparently were expected to find out the boat times on our own if we had booked the resort of this island via third-party websites (like Agoda), and if we had not known about this, we were then asked to pay for our private chartered boat for triple the price or risk waiting for an additional 3 hours for the public chartered boat. The waiters of the dinner restaurant were also very "pushy" and hard-selling, I found this very unsettling and I was unable to enjoy my dinner as a result.

When leaving we attempted to connect to the wifi and where pestered by a taxi driver who was friends with the hotel workers at the dock. We asked him to give us a minute as we had not figured out where to go. We then booked a grab for safeness in a foreign nation. The taxi man accepted our grab and then took us over to the taxi before cancelling and verbally berating us. He then went over to every taxi and lied about us. All whilst harassing my girlfriend a foot shorter than him who hadn’t said a single word to him. The hotel workers laughed as guests where verbally abused. When we booked more grabs he told them also to cancel. Stranding a young couple feeling scared and vunerable on the property of this hotel. The exact people who should help us laughed at our misfortune. This is an issue that really needs to be dealt with seriously...
