Google turned up this store when I wasn't sure where to buy salted fish on my way back to KL. I bought some "Mui Heong" salted fish, dried oysters, and dried squid there because it's not too far off my route. I honestly have no idea how much these cost, so I cannot say whether they are less expensive than KL, but my mother did comment that they look good. The owner informed me that while the salted fish I purchased has a grey colour and is wild-caught, it is superior and more expensive than the cheaper type, which is farm-raised and has a reddish top. He claimed that at the moment, there aren't many wild captured types. The owner will give a slight discount; those based in Klang Valley can call and place an order; they travel to Klang Valley often, and delivery is free of charge; I didn’t ask if there’s a minimum order though.

Visited Hasil Laut Kiah Kee to get my hands on Kuantan’s famous Mui Heong salted fish—loved for its rich aroma and soft, oily texture. It’s traditionally made from fish like red fish (ikan merah), threadfin (ikan kurau), or mackerel (ikan tenggiri), and is a cherished ingredient in Cantonese-style dishes. The large salted red fish (ikan masin merah) is especially popular here. You’ll need to buy the whole fish, but they can help pack it into smaller portions—perfect for sharing with friends. I ended up going for the smaller salted red fish and was not disappointed. Bonus surprise: they also sell traditional Chinese green bean biscuits (biskut Tou Sa)—and they were surprisingly delicious! A great local stop for foodies and thoughtful souvenirs.

Great seafood store with a wide variety of dried seafood at reasonable prices. The lady boss is very friendly and attentive. She’s especially patient with customers who aren’t familiar with seafood, taking the time to explain and recommend suitable options. For example, when I wasn’t sure which type of dried squid was best for soup, she personally explained the differences and gave helpful suggestions. Excellent service and a pleasant shopping experience — highly recommended!

Like what others mentioned in the review, the shop owner is very friendly and helpful. I dropped by here to get some random seafood products which obviously I know nothing about quality and pricing but the owner shared what to look for and he gave quite decent discounts as well. When I gave to my mom, she's pleasantly surprised with the quality and the value too! I bought dried scallops and fish maws for maybe 1/2 the price you can get in KL in comparison of both the quality and quantity. Would highly recommend anyone who come to Kuantan to check...
