The resort has MANY weak spots and we feel ITS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. even with good resources but bad management of it. THERE’S NOTHING TO DO HERE.
The fact that the water is clear, but you can always see trash’s floating around, makes me feel 😨🤮 it’s really bad feeling. From the speed boat from Semporna pier to the resort (this is not the resort fault but for the whole 30min there’s waves and waves of trash in the ocean….😭)
There’s an area to snorkel but seriously nothing to see…. In that area feels like prison. Once dip my face in, feel suffocating just by looking at the scenery underneath. We can’t go beyond the net (I know it’s for our safety but you can do better, cause the water here can get super low and is safe to snorkels around) there’s no area to chill in the water AT ALL. So you are surrounded by water, but can only look at the water.
The food is terrible, every meal is too simple and ordinary, you are in the middle of the ocean, and the price we pay is around 1000rm per night not cheap!!, and there’s basically no seafood during our stay for 3days 2 night… there’s always fisherman boat sail to resort’s dock and selling fish to the guest. It might be better for the resort to advice the guest about what are good pricing.
The room, smelly toilet once arrive, told the staff, they acknowledge it but never came to resolve the issue, so we need to flush soap down the drain and pipe. It gets better. The ac is not cool, need to always set to maximum power and lowest temp at 16, still not cool. And our room A8, always noice from the broken wooden floor in front of the room no matter people stepping or biking or strolling the luggage it’s always a loud bang! And only in front of our room.
Hiya, very disappointed in our stays.
*theres 2 kitten running around, that’s the only good thing we like...
Read moreSpend 3 day and 2 night here, the family room is comfortable the Aircond and shower heater work well, and I am lucky get to stay here during Sabah east coast blackout incidents so my family stay in the resort comfortably. The resort have generator to generate their own power need, and they use Starlink Internet services so the wifi work just fine during one of sabah worse blackout ever.
The food prepared at their restaurant is delicious and the quality were on par with most 5 star hotel i ever stayed and deserved to be given credit for their efforts.
There is no TV in the room, but hey if you spend a lot to stay at on the sea resort but just sit and watch tv then you just wasting your time, it is better to relax at the balcony watching the sunrise and sunset, or hired a boat for island hopping and enjoy the natural beauty of the islands of semporna so every minute you spend worthed.
I will missed this place and hope can come again if I got the time and the opportunity...
Read moreI stayed at Sand Bay Resort, Semporna, and I am extremely disappointed.
The room was terrible — no hot water, air-conditioning not working, and my single bed was broken. For the high price I paid, this is unacceptable.
The resort itself was boring, with no proper activities. The food was awful, tasteless, and cheap quality.
We also joined the boat trip to Mabul Island, which was another bad experience. The journey took almost 30 minutes to 1 hour, with strong waves making it feel dangerous. It didn’t feel safe at all. The lunch they provided was a joke — like a free handout.
Overall, this trip was a waste of money and a total disappointment. I do not recommend Sand Bay Resort or their...
