𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵: 1.8M 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆: Moderate - Hard 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗲: FREE Bukit Panchang sounds like the Malay word “𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗴”, which means 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴. Indeed, this trail is quite 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴. Bukit Panchang is located at 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘁, 𝗧𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘂, about 20 minutes away from Tawau town. The height of the hill is 𝟯𝟵𝟯 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 with a 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝟭.𝟴𝗞𝗠. It is a great hiking spot for amateur/frequent hikers who are looking for a short yet challenging hike. You have to go through a palm oil field before getting to the starting point. There is 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 to the summit, and it will take approximately 𝟰𝟬 𝘁𝗼 𝟲𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 to reach the top. You will know that you’re on the right track once you see the 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁. 𝗔 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 as some parts of the trail are quite steep and slippery, especially after the rain. There isn’t any leech, but also no resting spots available. On the summit, you can have a 𝟯𝟲𝟬 𝗻𝗼-𝗼𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲-𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘂 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 and the 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲-𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻. A good spot for hiking, there are no fees to pay, which lead to no maintenance of the trail, a lot of garbage along the way, especially at the top of the hill, not mentioning the vandalism, all the writing on the stone. It would be really nice if everyone who hike here work together, and keep the trail clean, if we can't pickup the garbage, at least don't litter.
