Pros -- Clean beaches with white sand -- Great place for diving and water activities -- Can watch fishes and sharks and if lucky you can swim/dive with them.

Cons -- Far from Maldives airport Nealy 75 km from male airport, so need to travel by speedboat for 2 hours (not a good experience for elderly or anyone with back issues)

-- Poor Internet During my stay of 2 weeks, the internet speed hardly touched above 0.10 Mbps. Even though they also use Dhiraagu for internet services you are forced to purchase a Dhiraagu SIM, which miraculously works better than their Wi-Fi.

-- Inhospitable staff I found most of the staff except for Rekha, Ashok, Sajib and the diving team (Giovanni and Roberto) to be outright rude and racist, few incidents below

There was some issue with my booking. I reached the resort after a long speedboat ride and the hotel staff rudely told me that since my agent hasn't paid, they will send me back to Male. I offered to pay the amount for full duration of my stay from my pocket, but they outright refused to take that and told me "it's your headache and you resolve it". The way they speak, makes you feel as if they are doing a great service by allowing you to stay and during all this, they didn't let me even go to the hotel reception or offered even a glass of water. I was standing and having this discussion on the Jetty. I requested the restaurant manager to allocate me a shore sea facing seat, even though it was unoccupied he refused but granted the same seat to an Italian couple who came later. I felt he was the worst of all and the way he treated guests made me feel I am living in a motel. One time we took desserts around the closing time and after finishing it kept the dishes on a table near the exit. The waiter gave us the same look, which your mother gives when you don't place the dishes in the kitchen sink, after dinner. He asked us to place the plates on a counter near the kitchen. They are unwilling to help with any request whatsoever for e.g. one of the travelers with us had an elderly parent and they initially refused to pack food for room. Only after multiple requests did they agree.

-- No room services There is no concept of room service and there is no intercom as well. They only way to reach them is through a WhatsApp message to the number they have given. It takes them on an average 3-4 hours to check and respond to the messages sent.

-- No laundry Apparently, they closed the laundry services recently, their reason was there are a lot of Indian tourists and we can't handle the volume. Wasn't sure how to respond to that.

-- Poor management You ask them for anything like dates of PCR test, request for early or late checkout or even delayed transfer by speedboat; the only response you get from reception is speak to your travel agent and these people will not help you. They made me travel at 11AM to Male airport for a flight at 9PM.

-- Boring Breakfast Breakfast had absolutely no variety, every day they make beans, sausages and 1 Indian dish which all tastes the same. Lunch and Dinner were manageable, but nothing to write home about.

Initially I thought I was the only one facing this issue but after interacting with other travelers, I realized everyone felt the same way. There are better island and resorts in Maldives and would not recommend anyone to go to Alimatha, specially Indians. It was the worst experience in any resort/hotel I...

Below are the cons and pros Starting with cons Cons: Quite vivid discrimination between indian and Italian tourist. Most inhospitable management. If you are a muslim, don't go there. It seems like they are trying to feed you pork intentionally by mixing it even with green salad or cakes or vegetable and naming it in Italian acronyms which you won't be able to understand unless told by someone. Again this pork or wine is mixed or can be found with any of the food and you won't realise unless told by someone. The management is all Italian which is not an issue but they are inhospitable and the most incompetents of Italy. Especially the Restaurants manager and the boss of reception guys. For any problem if you will approach them they will simply ask you to talk to your travel agent. One example. If you have any issue with RT-PCR test, they will ask you to talk to your travel agent. The water for taking shower is not hot but super hot. You will not only struggle for shower but if you will expose your body to that water for long it may give you a permanent burning wound. Only two bottle of drinking water for each room, irrespective of the number of occupants in that room, is provided and that is also not a sealed bottle but a jar refilled by them from somewhere. Don't expect to get your any problems rectified, even your non functional fan will not he rectified after several requests( yes I said Request because you can't make any complaint as you are in a small island and surviving on their mercy). The worst WIFI I have ever experienced. You will have to buy a SIM card from them and pay 32 USD for 3 GB data. It seems like they have zeroed the wifi network or speed to sell the SIM card in oxorbitant price.

Some Pros:

The island is a paradise. Very neat and clean water. You can spot lots of baby sharks near jetty at any time. The place is good for scuba diving and other water activity.

Conclusion: A very beautiful, delicate and good woman(Island) has heen married by an ugly, irresponsible, uncultured, incompetent and inhospitable husband(Management). Save this alimatha island from this management. The front desk staffs are nice but the incompetent management has ruined this island's comfort and beauty by their...

I have stayed 15 nights in this resort. Below are my positive and negative feedback about this resort.

Positive: The resort has a good ambience. Rooms and beaches are so clean and well maintained. House keeping is well organized. Ideal place for diving and snorkeling. You can see baby sharks and tiny fishes every time during the day.

Negative: Arrogant management. Even the manager at the resort does not know how to deal or talk to a client. There is a discrimination between Indian and Italian tourists. The management does not know anything about our arrival and departure transfers. They will tell us to discuss with the travel agent for any concerns. The front office staffs are very rude. They are yet to learn what hospitality is. The worst WiFi. Please make sure you have a local sim during your stay. Hotel does not provide any kettle or coffee maker inside the room. The resort makes additional revenue by making the tourist buy coffee or tea from their restaurant. Never ever recommended for single lady travelling. The staff at the resort will share the contact number and will force them to message during night, which is very odd. There were few instances happened and a complaint was raised by 2 ladies during the stay. Arrival and departure transfers are arranged with utmost unprofessionalism.

This resort is never ever recommended for...

Alimatha is an island on the mid-northern rim of Felidhu Atoll, Maldive Islands. Classified uninhabited, it is operated as a resort (Alimatha Aquatic Resort). Alimatha Island is an uninhabited island in the Eastern area of the Maldives, which operates as an aquatic resort. This is a great place to go diving with friendly sharks. And of course, there’s a wide variety of fish. If you’re not trained to go diving, there’s a school on the island where you can learn and get certified if you choose to. You can also go night diving with stingrays and nurse sharks. Else-wise, you can enjoy sunbathing on the sandy beach, or fishing where you’re guaranteed to catch some fish, especially marlins. There are also lots of water-based activities like windsurfing and canoeing. All in all, it’s a peaceful beach full of beautiful oceanic views and greenery, great resorts to stay at, and delicious food

Alimatha is one of the top tourist destinations in the Maldives and is visited by hundreds of travelers every month. The paradise island attracts tourists with beaches with golden-white sand, a scattering of greenery far from the bustle of the world and unforgettable underwater life. In wildlife animals usually tend to avoid encounters with people. But not in Alimatha. It is a small island in the Maldivian Vaavu atoll. Nurse sharks are frequently encountered by divers, and most encounters are without incident. Most attacks attributed to nurse sharks are provoked by humans. Today I had a high Adrenaline experience with Sharks. You cannot disturb them. Photo and video by Drone and Underwater Camera.
