Hakuraa — Local services in Mulaku Atoll

We stayed for 15 nights at Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa, on Platinum Island, in a beachfront bungalow. The experience far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived in Malé, everything was smooth: we were quickly welcomed by a hotel representative, the seaplane transfer was efficient, and the first moments on the island were magical — a small, isolated islet surrounded by a turquoise lagoon.

Our stay took place from late April to early May. Temperatures hovered consistently around 30°C (86°F), and the weather was beautiful for nearly the entire stay. We had two or three brief rainy spells, but the sun always returned quickly and shone brightly just a few hours later.

Platinum Island is adults-only and hosts only about twenty bungalows. The atmosphere is peaceful, soothing, almost out of time. Our bungalow was spotless: spacious, well-maintained, with high-quality bedding, a large semi-open bathroom, and a quiet, very effective air conditioner. Housekeeping came every morning and took care not only of the interior, but also the small beach in front of our unit, which was raked daily.

From our terrace, we had direct access to a little beach. Some other bungalows have stairs leading straight into the water instead. All units are separated by dense tropical vegetation, and the surroundings are incredibly tranquil. We often saw herons, fruit bats, and even a few rabbits. The overall atmosphere is relaxed, serene, and perfect for disconnecting.

The bar, restaurant, and small pool are simple, unpretentious. Dining was a real highlight: varied buffets that changed daily, fresh ingredients, and excellent desserts. The service was warm and attentive — especially thanks to Hana and his team. The food is the same as on the main island, but the setting here is much quieter and more intimate.

A complimentary spa massage is offered on arrival. The resort also organizes several paid excursions (to see manta rays, turtles, sharks), and offers two free snorkeling trips daily around the island’s reef, which is rich in marine life. The gym is well-equipped, clean, and air-conditioned.

Overall, the staff were outstanding — friendly, smiling, helpful without being intrusive. Everything seemed to run smoothly and without stress.

A few small downsides to the “all inclusive” offering: some alcoholic beverages weren’t included, late check-out cost $40, and access to the buffet on the last day was $25 — with only water included. A bit disappointing for a stay of this level.

We had an all-around wonderful vacation at the Cinnamon Hakuraa Hurraa Resort. From arrival to departure, everything was perfectly organized and exceeded our expectations.

The cleanliness of the resort was outstanding. Our bungalow was always spotless and cleaned thoroughly every day. The public areas, such as the pool, restaurants, and beach, were also always well-maintained and inviting. It was evident that the resort places great emphasis on hygiene and order.

The food at the resort was another highlight of our stay. The variety and quality of the dishes were impressive. Every evening, there was a diverse buffet with international and local specialties, leaving nothing to be desired.

A big compliment goes to the entire team at the resort. The staff were always friendly, attentive, and helpful.
