Gangehi — Local services in North Ari Atoll

Imagine someone feels the need to type a review without even reaching the resort. At first me and my wife wanted to celebrate our honey moon there, we checked their website and it had certain fares for the full board option which we were going to reserve, after checking many reviews on different platforms about "The management being rude, defensive to reviews and unprofessional, the place having cockroaches, the bottle of water is 5-8USD even with the full board stay, buffet is very strict with timing and you can't even have a cup of coffee 5 minutes before the breakfast starts etc..." we decided it might be a good idea to take the All-inclusive offer and ignore the other negative points mentioned hoping it would be good but unfortunately they didn't have the fares of All-inclusive on their website, therefore I e-mailed the resort asking about the possibility of reserving an All-inclusive water villa in the period we wanted, the reply back was that it is mandatory to have a seaplane reservation and a speedboat is not an option (Which I didn't even ask them about and as well had already reserved from Atoll transfer a speedboat to their resort which for sure I canceled later when I decided not to book in this resort), and to check the website if I want to make booking, I thought I missed something in the website so I went to double check, once I checked the website the room that I wanted to reserve already had an increased price of 80USD per night and yet the All-inclusive was not mentioned, so I went back and replied to the e-mail that the All-inclusive offer is not there and why the price got increased right once I asked about the specific room offer, the reply I got back was very stunning for me "Kindly note that All-inclusive rates not uploaded in Online. Kindly note online rates are changing due to the room availability and you have to book the reservation as per the online rates." Photo Attached

Over all it seems like the All-inclusive offer prices is a top secret information that even clients can't know it, or they are waiting for you to get there and either pay the 5-8USD per bottle of water or instead get an insane fare for the All-inclusive, not to mention the lie about the seaplane while it is possible to arrange a speedboat... Apparently all the bad reviews I read were accurate before I even reach the resort, afterall I am very happy we reserved somewhere else All-inclusive with similar fares as the Full-board in Gangehi and the customer service there was more than awesome before I even reach they seemed to be much more professional than...

Paradise! Ok firstly, the resort isn’t fancy and the activities / services - don’t bother - so disorganised as there’s only one guy doing everything. No fancy restaurants and it’s buffet style. Did I mention Wifi is terrible.

So why 5 stars? This island is so beautiful and peaceful. It has is charm despite all the flaws. The beach is white fine sand and the water is crystal blue. There aren't many guests and the house reef is the best I’ve ever experienced!!!! Everyday you will see turtles, sharks (big), plenty of fish and a variety of sea life (saw squid and lion fish for the first time) from snorkelling next to the beach. You don’t even have to snorkel, daily stingrays and baby sharks can be seen from shore.

Some background, we were at another fancy resort (Lux South) for the week before Christmas (2020/21) then lockdown was announced in the UK so we extended our stay in the Maldives for another week. Couldn’t really afford the current place so moved to a cheaper island/resort. Gangehi was a shock when we first arrived (rooms, service, food, etc) but after the first night we feel in love with the place. Laid back atmosphere (they tell you set you clocks forward an hour - they call it island time). You can’t not relax at this place - just enjoy peace and quiet. We remember our time in the Maldives, we don’t talk about the fancy resort, we always talk beautiful Gangehi!!!

The island manager is lovely but as mention before the activity coordinator is all over place. Wish they didn’t have the rock wall but you get over it after a while and if you have kids they can safety play in the area it protects.

Some tips - Don’t bother with the over water bungalows. They are on the side of the island which isn’t as pretty and...

Gangehi Island Resort - oczekiwania spełnione w 100%. Hotel - położony na małej wyspie otoczony oceanem i rafą koralową. Wszystko tutaj wpasowane zostało w klimat wyspy, architektura współgra z przyrodą, basen byłby pomyłką ponieważ plaże są idealne, a ocean sprzyja plywaniu i snoorkowania. Hotel tworzy 45 domków. Transfer łodzią motorową 1,5h był bardzo przyjemny i ciekawy, mogliśmy podziwiać inne wyspy oraz w drodze do hotelu mieliśmy szczęście zobaczyć delfiny. Pokój/Domek - My mieliśmy Beach Villa (była to opcja najbardziej polecana w komentarzach) i ten wybór był strzałem w 10! Piękny taras z widokiem na ocean, własnym zejściem na plażę, gdzie mieliśmy prywatny parasol i leżaki. Bardzo kameralnie i prywatnie idealnie na romantyczne wakacje we dwoje. Atrakcje - główną atrakcją jest oczywiście snoorkowania, rafa wokół hotelu jest nieziemsko piękna, dużo kolorowych ryb i koralowców, nie trzeba głęboko nurkować żeby podziwiać piękny podwodny świat, w niektórych miejscach rafa zaczyna się na wysokości kolan. Do dyspozycji gości są również kajaki którymi można opłynąć wyspę. Centrum nurkowe na terenie hotelu oferuje wypożyczenie sprzętu i wycieczki. Wyżywienie - Full board (śniadanie w formie bufetu + nielitowane soki, kawa i herbata, obiad w formie bufetu, kolacja w formie bufetu) All inclusive (full board + nielimitowane napoje alkoholowe i niealkoholowe). My mieliśmy opcje full board i wyszła nam bardziej opłacalnie niż all inclusive. Do śniadania są serwowane pyszne soki - polecam szczególnie mango, oraz kawa i herbata, codziennie butelka wody 1,5l do pokoju. W restauracji na wodzie happy houer przy zachodzie słońca od 18:30 ze zniżką na alkohol 30%. Najlepsze dla nas były kolację, jedzenie bardzo dobre, ale jeśli ktoś nie lubi ryb może mieć spory problem bo jednak głównie to ryby królowały w menu. Jeśli nie nastawiasz się na całodniowe picie to polecam nie brać all inclusive. My piliśmy właściwie codziennie kupując około 6/8 drinków dziennie plus jakieś napoje (polecam szczególnie wodę z koksa) i wydaliśmy około 350 USD, a opłata za all inclusive wynosi koło 2000 zł za 2 osoby. Obsuga - bardzo miła, pomocna i życzliwa. Pozdrawiam szczególnie naszego ulubionego barmana Siraja. Przydatne informacje: Dron dozwolony po wcześniejszym złożeniu deklaracji na recepcji (polecam to zrobić odrazu bo czeka się kilka dni) Nie przyjmują serii dolarów przed 2006 rokiem Dobrej jakości maski i kamerka, która nagrywa pod wodą to rzeczy, które polecam zabrać Kupuje się bezgotówkowo podpisując paragony i na końcu rozlicza się to na recepcji (polecam zapisywać żeby nie stracić rachuby) Do każdej ceny (napoje, alkohol, pamiątki, wycieczki) doliczają 22% podatku w tym sam podatek 12% i 10% servis, nawet jak nie ma, serwisu czyli np. kupując magnes w sklepie z pamiątkami też płacisz 22%. Wycieczki drogie najtańsza na sąsiednią wyspę 30 USD od osoby + 22% podatku. Wycieczki na rafy (40 USD, 65 USD) To były nasze wakacje marzeń i spełniły wszystkie nasze...
