Mathiveri (Dhivehi: މަތިވެރި) is one of the 8 inhabited islands of Alif Alif Atoll. Mathiveri is located at the central area of North ari atoll. The population of Mathiveri was 904 in January 2017.
The Current Island Council Members are:- 1- Ismail Athif (MDP) President of the Council. 2- Sama Abdul Qafoor (MDP) Vice President of the Council. 3- Ilyaas Ibrahim (PPM).
There is a health centre in the island to provide basic health care service to the community. The health centre has a medical officer and 2 registered nurses and nearly 15 staff members. There is a police station in the island and a magistrate court is to providing law enforcement
There is a school (up to grade 10) on the island to educate the children of the community. The principal of the school is Mr. Mohamed Siraj.

Mathiveri is one of the westernmost islands in the Maldives; it’s another inhabited island located in Alif Alif Atoll. The island is 84 km away from Male, the capital of Maldives.
The population is rather small; about 900 people live there. The island itself is also not so large; it’s about 480×300 m. The entire island is a village. Bodufolhudhoo is another inhabited island, which is located nearby. It’s a tiny island, where you can find a few guest houses. You can get there by local ferry.

For those who want to experience the Maldives in a natural way, without expensive and luxurious resorts, living in contact with healthy, peaceful and welcoming people. There are not big hotel, life for aperitifs, pubs with music ... Very nice you have the nearby Sand Island all by itself; you can reach it by crossing the sea on foot or with a rowboat. In the Sand island there is nothing but white sand and a little green; very pleasant to rest in the shade of the plants, in absolute silence, immersed in a fantastic sea. Sometimes boats bring tourists from the neighbors atolls to this islandresort; when they leave there is a lot of waste but then someone goes to clean up everything. Attenction to thieving magpies; they take things that you leave themselves unattended ... they took me a component of the camera. The photo represents the relaxation described.
