HOUSE REEF: 5*, probably one of the last few intact house reefs in Maldives. Quick entries from the beach for snorkeling as well. You can see turtles, big schools of different colorful fish, loads of clownfish, rays etc. BEACH: 5*, white sandy beach, easy entries, like paradise. DIVING Werner Lau: 5*, very professional and awesome dive school and very good dive spots (don't miss Jumping Jack, The Cathedral and Ayers Rock). FOOD/RESTAURANT: 4*, very good grilled fish, good variety of curries and beef, awesome staff (especially Abudullah!!) ACTIVITIES: 4*, don't miss the Night Fishing (included in All Inclusive) - you can have your fish for dinner the next evening and can choose whether prepared as grilled fish, sashimi, curry or something else; Island Hopping is included as well but unfortunately we did not have the time to do it. Jetski, Windsurfing, Stand Up Paddling etc. is available but expensive. ROOMS: 3*, the rooms provide everything you need and are all directly located at the beach, the open air shower is awesome. The lowest category (Superior) is sufficient since Deluxe (+bathtub, not needed) and Water Bungalow (+entry into water, sea view) are not that much different so the price is not really justifiable! Unfortunately all Bungalows need to be renovated and do not justify four star quality anymore, especially the roofing - but refurbishment is currently in process. SPA/WELLNESS: 3*, overpriced, way more expensive than in Germany! We did not do any treatments or massages. The short welcome massage at arrival was awesome though! BARS: 4*, Main Bar and Sunset Bar provide everything you need. If you did not book all inclusive it is way overpriced though (Cocktails 15 Dollars, Espresso 5 Dollar!). Staff is very friendly! POOL: 4*, rather small and nothing too special but the size is sufficient for the hotel size and the pool is awesome at sunsets. The bar is accessible from the water seats.

Conclusion: Perfect for a diving and snorkeling holiday on a small beautiful maldivian island with good food! Relaxation is guaranteed! Not luxurious, no four star quality, no entertainment at all, so not sufficient for clubbing and probably too simple for Honeymooners.

We will definitely come back for...

June 2023, villa 55 Island is lovely. But. So much can be improved on. NOT a barefoot island! Beach shoes needed. Wooden floor in the bathroom loose.Bathroom slippers are needed because of slippery tiles and painful little stones in the bathroom floor directly in front of the wash basins. No warm water in the shower - when it worked. Defective toilet. Small steps ( about 5cm) between bedroom and bathroom and again into the toilet. Hazardous as hard to see. Wardrobe in the open air bathroom so in the rainy season all your clothes get damp. Not enough shelving for clothes. Not one single relaxing chair on the whole island. All upright and hard. Chairs in the restaurant with high arms, so you have to lean forward to eat. Sun loungers old, often broken, and the mattresses damaged, thin, and too narrow. Beach towels far too small. Bed extremely hard. We were given a thin topper, which helped minimumally. Food OK, but meat completely raw, and curries all tasted the same. Vegetables not properly cooked. Deserts and soups were lovely. Excessive charging for water. Only one bottle in the Villa, the rest costs a lot of money, even in the restaurant! Staff mostly really nice, but slow, even though the island was maximum 20% full. Our Roomboy Mahaub was wonderful, as was Ziyaa and Hosain in the restaurant and Raviol in the bar. The transfers from and to Malé were excellent, professional and well organised. This holiday was an expensive mistake. We should have chosen another island, but we...

Incredible week here, everything was perfect from the transfer to check-in. The accommodation and overall architecture is very traditional (wooden), ... which is what we loved (if you want glass and marble, go to Dubai!). Would definitely recommend investing in the superior Villas as these are on the most amazing beach which reveals the most amazing reef and drop off.... the amount and abundance of sea-life is incredible, honestly like being in "Finding Nemo". The Villa was very comfortable (fully A/C), the outdoor area/bathroom was especially cool ... nothing will ever beat taking an outdoor shower, looking skywards and gazing at palm trees. The food was varied, plentiful and delicious... they even cooked the fish we had caught on the night fishing trip and served it "four ways" for a banquet lunch the next day. What really made the trip extra special though was the amazing staff who were attentive, engaging and most of all, friendly. We were a party of x8 from the UK, celebrating a special birthday, and boy was it special. Big thanks to Moffazza (our waiter), Faruk (poolside), Hosain & Jude, and Ram around the bar. Already counting the days for when we...
