Avoid Lagoon Flight at All Costs – A Disgraceful Example of Customer Service

My recent experience with Lagoon Flight was nothing short of disastrous. For a company that markets itself as offering premium, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, their service is shockingly unprofessional, incompetent, and riddled with mismanagement. This review serves as a warning to anyone considering booking with Lagoon Flight: Save your money, your time, and your sanity by avoiding this company altogether.

Unforgivable Issues: Zero Accountability and Communication: Lagoon Flight utterly failed to communicate proactively. Despite booking weeks in advance, I was informed at the last minute that the 25-minute flights I had paid for would be reduced to 15 minutes due to “low tides.” Instead of taking accountability or offering solutions, they simply dumped this information on us without warning, leaving us to scramble and adjust our plans.

Rigid and Unaccommodating Policies: When I requested a reasonable adjustment to our booking (switching from four single flights to two duo flights), the company hid behind nonsensical policies and refused to make any effort to accommodate us. Their blatant disregard for customer satisfaction was appalling.

Nonexistent Support System: Trying to contact Lagoon Flight was a nightmare. Repeated calls went unanswered, and their excuse was “internet issues.” For a company dealing with tourists who rely on precise timing and trust, this lack of a backup communication system is an insult.

Bait-and-Switch Tactics: After being forced to accept the reduced flight duration, they had the audacity to offer a last-minute, vague “duo flight” option. This felt more like an attempt to fill a gap in their schedule and salvage revenue than a genuine effort to provide a quality experience.

Empty and Worthless Apologies: Lagoon Flight’s repeated, insincere apologies were nothing more than empty platitudes. Words without action mean nothing. A company that wastes its customers’ time, money, and trust should not be in business.

Here’s the truth: If you want breathtaking views of Mauritius, flying on a your commercial leaving Mauritius during the day should give you the same view or even better. The commercial planes leaving Mauritius usually circle the south coast before heading north, offering spectacular views without the headache of dealing with Lagoon Flight’s incompetence. You’ll save money, avoid unnecessary stress, and still get to enjoy the beauty of the island.

The Final Straw

Our group of four was reduced to two participants because Lagoon Flight’s last-minute changes made it impossible for all of us to attend. Even then, they refused to honor the original 25-minute flights for those who stayed, despite the now-available slots. Lagoon Flight clearly cares more about their rigid policies and bottom line than delivering on their promises or ensuring customer satisfaction.

For Future Customers

Let this review serve as a warning. Lagoon Flight does not deserve your business. Their inability to manage operations, communicate effectively, or treat customers with respect is unacceptable. This was my third attempt to book with Lagoon Flight, and it will undoubtedly be my last.

Conclusion Lagoon Flight’s lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic respect for its customers is disgraceful. I want to ensure that others are aware of this experience, and I urge anyone reading this to find better alternatives. Lagoon Flight is not worth your time or money.

Viewing the underwater waterfall was the best experience for my whole Mauritius tour and many thanks to all crews of Lagoon flight to make it possible.

I visited Mauritius at the end of October-2023.

Booking: I directly went to their website, they have different pricing for different flight duration of 15/30/45 minutes. I chose the 15 minute one for me and my wife, and booked it online. No advance payment was required during online booking. Try to book at least one month prior, else you might not get slot.

Schedule: during online booking, I needed to provide the date. Then on the next day, one of the lagoon flight crew contacted me on whatsapp to choose a suitable time slot. I confirmed the same for me and my wife. Their BAU operating time is 9am-3pm local time. No payment was required at this point as well.

The day of flight: we reached there 30 minutes prior to our scheduled time. My flight was commenced at once. But before my wife’s flight, it became cloudy and started raining. They clearly informed us that they can fly but as per their pilot’s advice, the underwater waterfall will not be visible promptly in this weather. So, either we should come back on other day or wait till the weather gets better. I VERY MUCH LIKED THIS HONEST AND PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE OF THEM TO CLEARLY EXPLAIN THE SITUATION. It’s not like they will just fly you to get the money in bad weather. So, we waited for an hour and then the weather got better and my wife’s fight then commenced.

Payment: post flight of both of us commenced, only then they asked for the payment. They accept credit card or cash (MUR or EURO). I paid through euro. 149 euro per person for 15 minutes flight.

In-flight Experience: The flight is small flight which floats on water. It has two seats only. One for pilot and one for the tourist. After getting in the flight, the pilot quickly explains dos and donts. And during whole flight, he also explains about the waterfall. As bonus, we were also able to see few whales underneath in the ocean.

360 degree video: They also provide a 360 degree video (length: approx 3 minutes) which is awesome. As its name suggests, it gives you a whole 360 degree awesome view of your journey. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL VIDEO PLAYER WILL NOT RENDER THE 360 DEGREE VIDEO PROPERLY, FOR BEST EXPERIENCE USE VLC PLAYER AND DURING PLAYING THE VIDEO U CAN USE UP/DOWN/RIGHT/LEFT ARROW TO EXPERIENCE THE TRUE 360 DEGREE EXPERIENCE. They charge 35 euro for each of this video additionally and it’s optional, totally upto you. I recommend to opt for it.It totally different than what you capture in ur mobile and camera.

It’s a must do thing in Mauritius and lagoon...

My kids bought me this flight for my birthday, having been to Mauritius 8 times but having never seen this spectacular coastline from the sky. Honestly, I was nervous because I do get motion sickness ( roller coasters, wheels, bendy roads by car ) and I thought this would just make me so ill. Our hotel guest relations person ( Le Telfair ) re booked this for my kids ( the first flight was cancelled due to wind, which gave me an indication what a reliable and honest company this is ) and off I went in a taxi to the beach where the plane flies from. After a short wait I got into the plane, met my pilot who was a Belgian Mauritian and super friendly, and before I knew it we were in the air. The take off and flight were so super smooth that I don’t know why I worried. The view was like nothing I had ever seen before, flying over la Morne and the underwater waterfall ( which I had difficulty seeing until I looked back on my video ), seeing the beautiful colours, flying over the surfers and kite surfers whilst also being educated on the area and this wonderful country by my pilot ( who was clearly very passionate about Mauritius ). We then flew up the coast, past our hotel, and to the southern most tip of the island, flying down low to look for turtles any rays, then up high again to once more take in the scenery from above. I would do this trip again and again. The people running the business are super friendly, super efficient, and I think for the cost, run a great quality operation with a good value price.
