Yucatan is a diverse state country on peninsula of Yucatan with its main city of Merida. Yucatan is mostly known for the turist sightseeing place - Chichen Itza, the modern wonder of the World. Right next to Chichen Itza you have a natural cenotes Il-Kil and X'keken y Samula where you can swim. Beside, Chichen Itza I would suggest to visit Rio Lagartos with its Pink lakes (Las Coloradas). On the way there stop in Tizimin, local village to taste some of the home made typical food. In case you are traveling through Jucatan on 3rd January stop to observe their celebration of the three holy kings. Another village that was on my intinerary but I didnt manage to visit it was Izamal - the yellow city.

Be aware that there is a lot of people visiting touristic places, so leave early and avoid the traffic. Also, majority of places do not use credit cards and ATM are not close to withdraw the money. As, the Highway is very expensive, use the smaller, but equaly fast roads to reach the destination. Safety is the priority of the country so do not be a daredevil while exploring on your own,...

Many interesting places to see and visit. Try the unique experience of swimming in cenotes but respect the sensitive inner environment by avoiding sun lotion or mosquito repellent before getting into water. You can find Maya ruins everywhere, I recommend Chichen Itza (be sure to be there at the opening to avoid the mass), Uxmal and Edzna (most of the ruins can be reached with a cheap colectivo). If you prefer sea and beaches, head towards Mahahual or Puerto Morelos for quiet days, or towards Tulum Cancun and Playa del Carmen for movida. Be aware of sargazo, people there make their best to keep beaches clean but you must be tolerant. I went in December/January and conditions of seaweed was absolutely under control. Maybe it could be worse in hotter months. But remember that it is part of the sea environment. I found very comfortable to travel by bus, you can choose between 1st class (ADO, timetable very reliable) or 2nd class (for example mayab, timetable less reliable, flexible tickets). I definitely recommend...

I loved in this place I could know the paradise in North America where it has beaches with very white sands and incredible vegetation I could know several cities besides cancun where it has many incredible customs and delicious cuisine in this place also had an amazing and calm spiritual energy as if I communicated with the local gods and spirits, in yucatan it was also where I met the Mayan civilization and its amazing stories, religions, customs, mythologies and envictions made by them, what most impresses me with yucatana is that beyond these things and being Mayan cradle is also the place where a large asteroid fell and killed the dinosaurs and also where the oldest woman in the Americas...
