Absolutely amazing and stunning tour with Lanchas Rojas out of Chiapas De Corzo. The canyon itself will take your breath away as long as you don't obsess over the floating garbage in some places. It's not Canada, the USA or western Europe, so adjust you expectations or don't go. Lanchas Rojas was very professional and safety minded. They even asked two people who switched seats to get back to their own seats to maintain proper balance of the boat. The flotation vests were brand new and 100% mandatory. There was even a control post along the way to ensure compliance. I was a bit put off by a direct request to everyone for a tip. If you have transportation it's definitely worth the trip to Tuxtla Guttierez to see the Sumidero Canyon from above. Your bracelet from the boat tour will get you in at no additional cost but it's pretty cheap even without the bracelet. There are 5 viewpoints with the last one being the...
Read moreAbsolutely spectacular place loved the tour did it by boat and then drove to the viewpoint where you pay to enter to get a better glimpse of the canyon from above.Sad part was the river was polluted and wish the Mexican government would invest a bit in cleaning up the river, also the boat exhaust fumes were bad but once you started moving it was tolerable! Warning would not recommend taking the RED JACKET TOUR GUIDES the ones closer to the market area they didn’t provide much guidance and at the end did not disclose to us that we could utilize the same wristbands to enter the lookout spot but they were sure willing to sell us another wristband for a fee absolutely crappy service. The tour guide drove so close to the edge of the river infatuated with wanting to show us some crocodiles that several of us got hit with tree branches without...
Read moreThe canyon would be beautiful if there were not so much trash. It's a shame. I know they pull out 5000 tons of trash every year, but it's not enough. They should address the real problem and develop an efficient trash collection system in the city of Tuxtla and the surrounding villages. They make a lot of money from the hundreds or thousands of tourists that enter every day. Better charge more and use the money for environmental clean up. Maybe we should just boycott the tour until they clean it up.
Talking about the tour: We had to wait over an hour to get the boat filled up, because there are so many competing tour companies. The tour was in Spanish only, which I have no problem with. But the bossy and unfriendly tour guide was just monotonously talking his lines with no motivation at all. I would not...
